Re: gl 1500 front wheel covers off

I need to clean the wheel of brake dust, BAD, but beyond hat I prefer not having the cover as I go through a set or two of pads a year, and it helps being able to see the pads and rotors with out having to take the bike/ front end apart

Re: Additional Lights - Need to be seen

I have also been thinking of "lighting it up" just to make myself more visible to wake up drivers to my presents. I have done the following: Led fog lights in the lower cowl Wiring to make the rear spoiler brake light a running light Ride safe Scooter I disagree with you here, and here is what I di...

Thanks for the link, unfortunately I will not have the cash to buy before tax season, no matter how good the deal may be.

There are a lot of nice 1800s for sale on that site. A lot of members there are buying the 2018.

I have seen and sat on the new 1800, they can have it ! LOL.

Upgrading next tax season

Ok, I am going to most likely be selling my current bike, a 1996 Aspencade with 160K on it due to mileage and more importantly, how hard it is to get body panels for it.... My current thoughts are, in my order of preference: 1 first gen GL-1800 2 a fiberglass body VW trike like my old one 3 a 2007 o...

Re: My bike is in the shop

I did get some Moly Paste, on my own dime, and will be using it from now on, unfortunately they had the bike all reassembled by the time I got the moly paste, so it will have to wait to be use until I can remove the rear wheel and regrets it, might be as long as mid july and less than 10K miles befo...

Re: Time for new radio knobs

Just for fun, try spray painting the old damaged knobs flat black, and then once dry, go to your local Hobby Lobby type store and buy some stick on jewels and use them to mark the dots on the knobs. Jewels like these are what I am thinking : https://www.hobbylobby.com/Scrapbook-Paper-Crafts/Embellis...

Re: SHORT LEGS !! - BIG PROBLEM ???

Do not recall the company name, but they where present at the Wing Ding Tulsa some years back, anyway, they offered a lowering deal that dropped the rear of the bike like 2”. Another thought is loosen the pinch bolts on the fork trees, and slide about 1” of the tubes through, lowering the front of t...

Re: My bike is in the shop

Well, had anew development come up. They got the bike altogether with a good uses driveshaft and the drivesplines, and it turns out there are TWO length drive shafts available. The used one they had turned out to be the short version, so they had to tear it down and reuse my drive shaft( which is in...

Re: My bike is in the shop

So the shop is gonna tear into her yesterday afternoon and this morning and call with what they find so I can decide how to proceed from there. The owner has told me he has a good used u-joint for $50, or a new one will be about $180. I don’t know what to do there as we did a used u-joint last year...

Re: My bike is in the shop

The bike has 155K miles on it, 80k of those by me. It got moly grease every tire change (average about 18-20 on a rear tire) and did no show much in the way of wear prior to this . . . Last tire was at 130K .

It is getting moly this time too.

Re: My bike is in the shop

Well, it turned out my thought was wrong, it was not the U-Joint, but was the drive splines . . . They where SHOT ! :o

Can you spot the bad parts and the “new” parts ? I did go used on the parts, but they are in very good shape compaired to what was there. . .

Re: Noise and would not move.

Put the bike on the center stand, in gear with the motor off, and slowly turn the rear wheel, does the click click click come from by the rear tire( splines)or more towards the middle of the bike (u-joint). This test does NOT guarantee the right answer, but gets you pointed I. The right direction. B...

My bike is in the shop

Well, as the title says, my bike is in the shop. Last Sunday the wife and I where returning from a ride to Tulsa, when about 15 miles from home, the bike lost all ability to put power to the ground. The motor would rev, but no matter what gear it was in, all I got was a clatter from below my butt. I...

Is there any antifreeze from Autozone, Advance Auto, etc that is also safe to use ? Just thinking of options for if a hose or clamp should fail on the road.

Re: Is the 1800 any faster ?

If you think about it, this is pretty much exactly how every airplane engine is run, all the time. Which is why they are typically torn down and rebuilt (at a cost of $20,000+) after every 2,000 hours of operation...and why they can cost $40,000 and upwards new - and that's for a little O-360 Cessn...

I was thinking about this thread after reading the Gold Wing book I mention here: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=42127 It says "...The GL1500, as with all Honda engines, was repeatedly tested to destruction to ensure durability at high rpm and high load.
