Re: 1988 Radio question

It is POSSIBLE that the key switch is Gerri g dirty, corroded inside, so it is not sending power where it belongs in different key positions. I am having the same basic issue with my bike in that with the key in RUN, I get no power to the running lights on it, but turn the key to where it locks the ...

Re: SE or Aspencade SE

I too have a 1996 GL1500 ASPENCADE, but one of the previous owners added most of theSE stuff, CB, Spoiler, 4speaker stereo, etc. the only things not added on mine was the two tone paint and adjustable passenger foot boards. I have never heard of a Aspencade SE and can not find anything on one with G...

X2 on the antenna connections, plus while you have it apart, use some Contact Cleaner on the power connection.

As far as I can tell. . . . No. They have totally different part numbers on Honda’s parts list as well as at aftermarket retailers.

No that I know of have to be swung out to open the trunk. I think that was on the 1200s that had to be done. . . . But then I have been wrong before, so yeah. LOL

Re: 1993 goldwing gl-1500 no power to ign. sw.

I ran mine down like that before, charged it over night, hooked it up and nadda, even though when on the charger it showed 12.8 or so volts. . . . Once a battery is drained “dead” it rarely if ever can be recharged.

Best contact cleaner I have found, and it is plastic and paint is Deoxit D5S, found at most good guitar centers and on Amazon.

Re: Progressive 412s

As soon as our taxes come in, we are going to have the mechanic look at the front end to see if it need spiffed up any, or if it is in good shape as is. It does not leak oil, has a firm, but not rough ride, and I do not feel like there is a hinge in the middle of the bike now with the 412s.

Re: Progressive 412s

Those are the pics of the dead shocks, and they where definitely dead. The whole job took me about a hour, hour and a half. I did not get any pics of the new shocks, sorry. As for my mechanic level, I was a tech at Econo-Lube years ago, breaks, tune ups, alternators and the such. So not a old hand, ...

It turns out I needed TWO types of bushings for my bike. . . . The clutch one talked about here, and the pivot one one both levers. No luck finding the later yet......

Progressive 412s

Okay, I got my new Progressive 412 shocks yesterday, so I installed them today. . . . Such a easy job, beyond removing the saddle bags. These shocks have 4 settings on the preloader, and I set mine at 3 as a starting point. Riding solo, they are a little stiffer than I expected, but still a good rid...

Re: Trailer picture thread

My trailer started out as a HF, which frame I don't know, the PO cut it down narrower, and chopped the tongue :x It is in my Avatar as well. I liked the box he made, but his mods to the axle did not fair out so well, I had a custom built axle with new hubs and 5.70x8 wheels/tires made up for it. Us...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

So I swapped the front tire yesterday. Was a bit fiddly but not too bad. Was glad I was able to do it, not just because the shops are a rip off, but because I've never done that before so it's a new skill :) It is a good feeling , isn’t it..... even a basic oil change done on your own feels good in...

I suggest you leave the windshield chrome off the bike for the first ride as it makes adjusting the factory portion of the adjustme...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

Stuff that can be done in a few hours at most, and is not too physically difficult, I do my self, the rest gets farmed out to a local “Mom & Pop” type shop here in Oklahoma City. One of the MANY down falls of a bad back and no garage/carport.

Cyclemax also has a LED direct replacement set up, no cutting or anything else required, just plug and go. $25 each, so not too bad in price.

Re: Shorty windshield

Which size of Windbender do you have on your bike? I am PRETTY SURE mine is the HP (curved top) and I rarely , never actually, have had to adjust the lower half of it, all my adjustment has been with the top half only other than when I was getting it set up. I have my lower at the highest position,...

Well, after a good amount of riding today, I can tell you that the rear Shocks are GONE! They did apply moly paste to the splines at that time. I also have not been able to reproduce the pop pop pop sense that evening, but as the wife and I both heard it,I know I am not going crazy. . . Yet! Lol I did put the bike on the center stand, with no results. I also tried wiggling the rear tire...
