Re: Interstate Radio

Look in my Stereo Question thread, a few replies down and you will find a link to a full set of wiring diagrams , I think you will find them VERY helpful.

Howdy, Sorry for the late reply, I'm recovering from a wreck on my trike. Having a heart attack when you are going down the highway isn't a good thing. Ride safe, Hobo Hey Hobo, Very glad you are still with us to reply, late or not ! Having a heart attack is not a good thing at home, work OR riding...

Re: Chicago to Tucson- fuel problems

As crazy as it might sound, when it starts sputtering, take the fuel cap off WHILE going down the road, it could be clogged up and restricting fuel flow at higher rpms too. . . . Mine did that, soaked over night in Seafoam and has not given any more issues.

No, it just makes it much easier. They can be bought from Harbor Freight for $25.00 .

So how EXACTLY (step by step) do I get rid of that air bubble? Take the clutch fluid reservoir cap off & start pumping until it returns to normal? Or how?

Re: stock pipe circumferance

That clutch issue sounds like a air bubble in the clutch line, each time you squeeze the clutch it “pumps”it up some more until it is where it should be.

Re: WHAT HAVE I DONE?

I don't know if this could in any way be something, but something like that happened to me after I had cleaned up my bike. Somehow I turned on the cb with squelch down and volume up and yep, that sound is about what you mention. Took me quite a while to figure it out. I thought I had major electric...

Re: 89 GL 1500 starter magnetic switch B help

I did jump my "B relay" long enough to crank the motor and have it spring to life ONCE, I would not risk more than that as I do not know what kind of damage it could possibly do to the bikes wiring.....

Re: 89 GL 1500 starter magnetic switch B help

What is the voltage at the battery ? If it is below 12.5 you can forget starting the bike, it will crank, maybe, but not start. Below 11 and I doubt it will even crank.... recharge or replace the battery as needed and then start more trouble shooting.

Is the bushing on the throttle side the same ? The reason I ask, is sometimes I have to jiggle the clutch or the front break lever around to get the Cruise Control to activate . . . .

Re: 89 GL 1500 starter magnetic switch B help

I had to snip the factory connector off, lengthen the wires a little bit, and put bullet connectors in place of the factory one so it can be removed and swapped out when ever it dies again.

Those switches both look like they would be fine, the one I got looks more like the lower picture ($25.00 one).

Re: 89 GL 1500 starter magnetic switch B help

I did not read all of this thread, but I had a similar starting issue, and was able to buy a generic starter sinenoid from a local shop for $40.00 (plus tax), I had to do a minor bit of work to it as it had a built on fuse like solenoid A, but once that was off, it looked identical to the old B I ha...

Re: Better Sound

Are you also using the intercom part of the stereo ? If not, they sell a adaptor that would allow you to use a quality set of ear buds instead of the in helmet speakers. Might work for you. I use a single ear bud, attached to my phone, so I can hear the gps directions as I do not have a phone mount ...

Re: Trailer picture thread

Hello, When I go camping I take the refrigerator with me. If you can find an old refrigerator body, preferably 13 cu ft or smaller, with two doors, it makes a great trailer to haul your camping gear and have a built in cooler for your food and drinks. What is the loaded and unloaded tongue weight o...

Re: Brake light flasher

Other than looking a bit complicated for my feeble mind to set up, I like this flasher set up and in my case, I would just wire it to flash my spoiler light. Just a FYI, on my bike, I wired the spoiler light as a brake light ONLY, so making it flash too would really grab your eye I think.

We have some like that on our bike, and the wife, all 4'8" of her, LOVES them. She can not quite reach the factory floor boards, so those give her a nice solid footing while we ride.

That is a good start, and will be helpful, but my feeble brain needs to know how to get in to there, and how to "break" the chisel bolts and what to replace them with too.....
I am just going to replace my switch, but after doing so might just open her up to see what I find in there too. . . .

It's time to replace . . .

Hey all, it appears to be time to replace my ignition switch on my '96 Aspencade. Does anyone have a good step by step, preferably with pictures, on how to do this ? The reason I am replacing the switch is : 1) the key can be removed from the switch while going down the road, and I have lost one set...
