Re: GL1500 idiot/screen light issue

Just notice this AM that with the key just 1 click to accessary position screen comes on and the goes off when I turn the key to on. Back to accessory screen comes back on. What do you guys think of this news? What I think about this news is that you have a faulty ignition switch that has a worn AC...

Re: GL1500 idiot/screen light issue

Thanks for the input. Mine does this in the mornings, but after work when the bike has been sitting in the sun all day it does not "mess" up when starting it. So I believe that the LCD screen is probably not sealed correctly any longer and taking it apart cleaning or sending it to Sierra Electronics...

GL1500 idiot/screen light issue

Good morning folks, Rode the bike to work today, 1998 GL1500 SE. When I went to start the bike the only "idiot lights" that came on were the neutral and side stand lights. The display screen and the cruise on/off, R light, did not come on. I rode the bike to the gas station and the "lights and scree...

Re: Timing belts

It really isn't too bad at all. just follow the D.I.Y. article and you'll be fine. I was very suprised when I did my 98's belts that after two hours of digging, to get to the belts, it takes litterally 5 minutes to install the new ones! Very anti-climatic to say the least. And mark your plug wires, ...

Re: That horrible CRUNCH sound

Life is measured by the Moments that take your breath away. Glad you switched lanes Scott, and yes I do get in first gear at lights and keep a close eye on the car approching me from behind. I "work" the front brake lever a few times to make sure the car approching from behind can see all of my 13 b...

Re: My new 1500

Nice looking bike. I'm kindof partial to the Spectra Red one's myself! I'm sure it was something pretty simple causing the issue. Our 98 gets just a tad over 40MPG's on the ethanol 87, and mid 40's on the premium grade fuel.

Re: New To Me 1975 GL Question

He's talking about the rubber cover on some of the regulator wiring. My guess is there is a short causing the bike to lose it's battery charge. Thus engine OFF mode. The starter solinoid is on the right side of the battery

As a cancer survivor I know the heartache that comes from that word... very well. You have to get mad and just use that energy to help the medicine work it's magic, and the skill of the surgeons hands to make it thru. My family has had Leukemia, Hodgkins 2 x's, Colon, Breast, and Melanoma cancers. I...

No the water pump is not driven by the timing belts. It is right next to the oil filter just below the timing belts cover. You can read about the timing belt change out picture tutorial here: http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=9774 It is a very well written D.I.Y. article and alot of...
