Could this adjustment be so out of whack as to keep the cruise from engaging at all?

Re: Please tell who or what made you buy a Goldwing

I had Honda 550four when we got married, then bought a CX500 and rode it for several years. When the kids were little I sold it and bought a tent trailer for the family. I didn't have a bike for over 20 years and then one of my oil customers mentioned he was selling his '88 1500 due to shoulder surg...

Re: exposing battery for charging

Can the tender be used on AGM or sealed batteries?

When I park my bike for the winter, can I leave the tender on 24/7 or just periodically?

Re: Engine oil.

Use an oil made specifically for motorcycle applications. It should meet JASO MA/MA2 specs for wet clutch compatibility.

Re: Brake Disc

Unfortunately the brake discs are just about on the limit and need to be replaced as well after 44,000 miles. I find it really hard to believe that rotors could be gone with 44,000 miles. Is it possible that someone mis-measured? Mis-read the limits? I'd double check the measurements before buying ...

Re: oil filter size

According to my lookup, your bike takes a cartridge canister type filter, one of which is the WIX 24940 which is 2.2" in height. Does your filter housing allow for a taller filter? http://www.amsoil.com/AmsoilGarage/MotoLookup.aspx?url=1982+HONDA+GL%20Gold%20Wing+1100 http://wixfilters.com/Lookup/Pa...

We've been getting intermittent 60 degree days in between rain and wind, so I've only had mine out a couple of times. Waiting for a little more consistant warm weather, I don't have all the cold weather gear yet.

I agree! I have done a bunch of badly needed maintenance on my '88 since I got it 2 years ago and have used the how-to articles if they were available for that task. Timing belts, final drive, wheel removal, brakes, filters, etc. Couldn't have done it without the help.
