Re: GL1800 Cam Chain Tentioners

Just a thought, when was the last time the valve lash was checked? Maybe what you're hearing is the valves (?)

Make sure the spacers are in correctly and the axle has been installed and tightened according to the manual.

TPMS Disable

I have a friend that just had his 2012 triked. The TPMS light is on due to the rear tire sensor missing now. Is there a way to disable the system? A fuse or relay that can be removed? The light being on is driving him a little nutty. Thanks.

Re: Manuals and Tools

+ 1 on the Ebay suggestion. The 1800's didn't come with a tool kit. I would contact the previous owner or dealer for the operator's manual. It should have come with one of those.

Re: Intercom squeal

Since you stated the problem started after a trailer harness was installed, I would look to that. It may have a skinned wire, or routed in such a way it's picking up interference.

Re: GPS input

I see. I misunderstood. If it were me, I'd use the audio input in the pocket for your satellite radio and and the GPS Input Device for the GPS. The input device doesn't provide a stereo output and can only be heard in your headset. I used one on my 1500 and it worked great. I can't remember if you c...

Why not just get the GPS Input Device available through this site? It goes inline with your headset connection and allows the GPS commands to be heard through your headset like a factory installed unit.

I too have had my card out a number of times with no issues. Although, I've never removed it with the system on. Also, if you check this site, there is an update available from one of the members. I'm currently using 2018 maps on my 2012.

Re: XM/SIRIUS Radio

I had an Onyx on my 1500. I was able to move it from the house to the bike to the car. It has 10 presets and I mounted the antenna on the shroud above the gauges. Worked very well for me. I just looked at the SiriusXM website and you can get the Onyx free with a subscription. I would also get the FM...

Try using CRC Contact Cleaner to flush out the switch. It won't harm the plastic parts like some others.

Re: LED Lights Vs CB Reception

I have a similar, but different problem. I have replaced all of the lights on my 2012 level 2 with led's from SoCalMoto. I have also installed the harness that allows the running light between the turn signals to function as a running/brake light. I was just informed over the weekend that when I key...

What does "pretty new" mean? Have you had the battery load tested? Any autoparts store should be able to check this for you.

It sounds like the intercom mute may have gotten out of adjustment. Try turning the intercom off and see if the problem goes away.

Re: 2002 Honda Goldwing with 286,000 miles

I would ask a lot of questions. Starting with who changed the timing belts on a bike that doesn't have them :o Also, have a qualified technician give it a "once over". It's not unusual for these bikes to run that kind of mileage but...

I had the same thing happen to me over the weekend. My issue came about when I tried to search a location by a phone number. After I had input the number and hit "done" the system re-booted. Tried again with the same results. I ended up using the address and had no problems. I'd love to hear what so...

Re: Batttery going dead

Have the battery load tested. Almost any auto parts store can do this. If it's gone dead a couple of times, it may be toast. Once you're sure the battery is fine, follow the above mentioned steps to trace down what's draining it.

Re: Rear Brake Caliper Rub

I believe someone has assembled it incorrectly. You shouldn't have any contact when spinning the wheel. I no longer have a manual for the 1500, but I'm sure someone will come along that can post the breakdown of how the spacers are to be installed.

Was it rubbing before you had removed the wheel? If not, I would guess that the spacers are in incorrectly.

Re: Bike died

Do you keep a tender on the battery? In years past, I was replacing batteries every 2 or3 years. Since I've kept a tender on the battery when the bike is parked, I've extended the battery life considerably. When I bought by 1990 GL1500 in 2009, it came with a gel battery. I have no idea how old the ...

Re: 1st Oil Change

While the bike is still under warranty, I wouldn't deviate from the manufacturer's recommendation. Always use the type and viscosity, I believe it's SF 10w30 (going from memory here), as the manual states. Heaven forbid something goes wrong! I would also keep any receipts that could back up what you...
