Go LED for any new lights you place in the Wing...
Clear Bright Light is really a difference maker ...

Re: SHINKO TIRES

My buddy ran a set of Shinkos.
After 5500 miles and several slippery moments he changed them out..
I have never seen him happier.

Other choices -
Dunlop E4's
Avon Cobra
Bridgestone for the GL1800

All better tires proven by many riders over many miles.

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

I am sure Mike o pegs are going to have to design something else new for the 2018's.
I think the crash bars are under plastic and not pronounced like previous Generations of Wing.

Anyone try ZDDP Plus additive ?

Claims to be good for flat tappet cams especially considering the removal of much of this compound from lubricating oils It seems the ZDDP is NOT catalytic converter friendly? It has received decent reviews from conversations on other message boards for use in a Goldwing - I bought some for a trial...

I would have a BLUE one on order ASAP

Unfortunately -- money is an issue... and I will have to stick to my old Orange '02 for the foreseeable future.

Re: Hard Shift 1st to 2nd

If you are making shifts from 1st to 2nd in a turn on the Dragon at slow speeds you are going WAY TOO SLOW The GL1800 has the power (torque) to START in 2nd and pull at nearly any slow speed so using 1st may be a challenge. I do ALL of my parking lot maneuvers in 2nd gear - 1st gear is only to star...

Re: Hot Tires

I've always thought the pressure numbers on the tires were maximum, not recommended pressures. No? It is my understanding that those are Maximum COLD pressures. Tire manufacturers count on the tire increasing in pressure when HOT - A typical rise in pressure of 10% (approx 4 lbs ) is not uncommon. ...

Soooo, has anyone seen or heard anything yet about hydraulic lifters or air filter location? Ron This is a better question...long term maintenance process For ME - I like the NEW Wing - I can't afford a new Wing So someday (in 5-6 years) I will buy a gently used low mileage version and ride the sno...

Maybe use the hose to wash off the area of any possible spill...?
Gently and low pressure...just let it run over and clear the antifreeze...?
Unless there are electronics in there to worry about (disclaimer)

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

Not bashing anyone here -- But I have read a lot of comments about the bike being sportier and not tour worthy. I think Honda is right on the mark here. Ridership is going DOWN across motorcycling in general - Most NEW riders are getting on Sport bikes (crotch rockets) and going all over the place....

Re: Digital speedometer

If memory serves me correctly there are only a few connectors to un-do /re-do. Unfortunately you will have to go back in to find them and re-seat them. The one I usually forget is the radio antenna - but the other 2 connecting the radios and various readouts are under the shroud. And of course the ...

Re: cruise control button problem

I am sorry you broke the button If this is your first Goldwing please realize that 'more force' and 'plastic' usually end up in this type of problem Many of the fasteners, buttons, and parts on the Wing are plastic - and 'more force' is a bad practice in my experience. Best wishes for speedy repair

Re: Shift pivot and mouse house eviction.

In my opinion the shifter pivot is the most dependable and reliable way to address the sloppy shifting on a GL1500 The pre-load is one method but requires precise timing and may add stress to the seal around the shaft - it has been a time tested method for working around the problem - but not a sol...

Re: GL1500 mounting a new rear tire

regardless you should plan on some sort of balancing process - When I had my 1500's I used balance beads inside the tires. Easy and very effective. - Avon makes a great tire - but run them hard - at the MAX PSI listed on the sidewall cold. You will like them and get great longevity as well as handli...

Great videos Wingsconsin. I'm curious, though, about the high beam light pattern. It seems to me, that while much brighter, the beam doesn't really reach out much further if at all. What do you think? Yes - the lights do not look great in the video But I can assure you that in real life they are gr...

Re: How to upgrade my headlight?

I did mine to all LEDs - I timed it for when I had the air filter to change - and some other tinkering I wanted to do while I was at it ...
