Re: Starter Button

did you check for continuity across the connectors? Nothing about an old bike is easy. Get a schematic and trace the starter wires using a OHM meter. You will find a short somewhere. Wish i could help more.

On that note, I would then trace and inspect all of the quick connections, unplug them, clean them, plug and unplug 5 or 6 times, coat them...

Re: where do YOU get your fuel filters

My local hardware store has a filter by Oregon that looks, and fits almost perfectly. I will get the part number I think it is a 07064 but I need to confirm with my hardware store which is closed today. Get back to you all on Monday. Confirmed the part number, this is a good replacement filter for ...

Re: 75 GL1000 Engine Problem?

Sounds great Pictures!!! Good thinking about the single carb, you might just proceed in that direction, my guess you will save time and money. First hand experience with these original carbs, they suck!!! To many parts and pieces. Mine were in pretty good shape, sorta, they at least opened and close...

Re: 75 GL1000 Engine Problem?

Sounds to me like the belt jumped a tooth, or was installed out of time, you never know who could have worked on it. New belts are available from the local auto parts. You might try rocking the bike in gear with the clutch disengaged, aggressively if needed, the clutches should break free. My bike s...

Re: 75 GL1000 Engine Problem?

Did you put fuel in the tank and or Carbs? the carbs do not have over flows, excess fuel will (stuck float) flow into the cylinder and hydrolock the engine. Had this happen to mine before i rebuilt the carbs.

Re: '76 Goldwing GL1000 - fuel and/or carb problems

Good luck, I spent about 20 hours rebuilding the carbs on this 75, but they were really bad, and i can be pretty slow when it come to carbs. i got the 75 to run before I started the carb work, against my better judgement, but the owner for some reason thought the carbs might be ok. Honestly, they we...

Re: '76 Goldwing GL1000 - fuel and/or carb problems

I concur it sounds very lean, which unfortunately means clogged jets. Our Government imposed ethanol fuel wreaks havoc on older fuel systems, especially carburated machines with fuel pumps. Gravity fed carbs stay full with fresh fuel as long as the fuel petcock is left on and do not suffer as much. ...

So far I have put almost 200 miles on this animal, it's not a VMAX, but it is pretty cool!! Still in the process of repairing switches and detailing. I could not have gotten thi...

I need the Lock and key/upper portion. My lower is in good shape. I have read some poor reviews on Saber Cycle parts, anyone bought an ignition switch from them that worked?
