Re: 2018 Goldwing

I'm thinking I might change my mind about it. It's beginning to grow on me, but it just doesn't suit me for the way I travel....yet.

Glad that you're enjoying it! Me, now that I'm old, find it harder to find joy in doing anything remotely connected with work ;)

Re: tool kit

I've found the factory toolkit to be practically useless for anything but the most elementary fixes. I pack a small set of s.a.e. and metric sockets w/ratchet and extensions from Harbor Freight($4.95), a set of small size metric combination wrenches(no need for s.a.e.),a pair of channel locks, needl...

Re: Why use the radio speakers

I always use the bikes speakers. It doesn't matter if I wear an open face or full face helmet, I've never not been able to hear them. The few times I've tried riding with earbuds, I found them to be uncomfortable and one or the other would invariably 'pop' out.

Although I've ridden colder than I really should, now I won't ride if it's below 20*-25*.I can dress for those temps without too much trouble

The "new demographic" won't miss it. How many gallons do you need to go bar hopping?

Re: 2018 Cleveland Motorcycle Show Report - Pictures! Video!

I had previously read Freds report and felt it sounded as though it was written by the Honda advertising department. Please tell me how two people can fit everything needed for two weeks of traveling(even if it was only three days clothing for each) in that tiny trunk. Scott, that was a nice report ...

Re: Reviving an old Laptop

That's good to know. I'll be trying that to one of my old laptops (Win XP) for exactly that reason-traveling on the bike. It's tough as nails, but just outdated. I couldn't bring myself to toss it. Thanks :)

Re: satellite radio

One of the first things I did on all of my rides was install a 12V outlet. I also run a three outlet adapter into that, which is easily moved from bike to bike. I usually power my XM radio, mounted to the windshield with the rubber suction cup thingy, and have a tape deck adapter tape plugged into t...

Re: Why did he crash ?

Harvey- You don't want to spend the $$$ for the course if you don't like riding. How do you know, unless you try it first. I would imagine very few people say I'm going to spend $300 or more to take a motorcycle safety class, only to find out they can't balance it or aren't coordinated enough to clu...

WANTED:dustbin style fairing

I know this is a long shot, but I'm looking for an old dustbin type race fairing for a project I'm putting together. It will have to be cut to fit, so I can't buy a new one. I know there are some of these that haven't seen the light of day in quite awhile, tucked away in corners or upstairs in garag...

Re: Why did he crash ?

RE:Scooters P.S. I'm pretty sure the motorcycle safety class is a requirement in Pa. Before that, take the scooter to a large, empty parking lot (such as school) and let her get familiar with feeling the balance, rolling on and off the throttle, start and stopping, mastering the controls, and low sp...

Re: Apeman Endoscopic Camera

Great write up and photos. I have used a similar camera (very high dollar) when working, to look inside piping and condensing tubes where physical inspection was impossible. I'm glad to see that the prices have come down to a point where it makes sense to have one. It's one of those tools that you d...

Shinko-another tire thread

It's been long enough since my previous bad experience with Shinko tires, to maybe consider them. I'm curious how they perform and hold up on the 'Wings that have been running them. Are they as good as some say they are, or are they as poor-being barely adequate-as I remember them? I've been running...

Re: New Year's Day ride out

Nice! I love the D Jag.This was the first New Years Day I didn't ride, at least a few miles, in many years. I've never been accused of being the sharpest knife in the drawer, but 35+" of snow(over the weekend) and 14* below zero doesn't make for an enjoyable ride!

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Even though we have a lot of snow and the warmest it's been in almost two weeks has been 20*F, I saw a motorcycle Sheriff escorting a funeral yesterday. I didn't want to crash the procession and didn't have time to wait for him, but he must have some big cahones.

Re: National Park Lifetime Senior Pass to Increase

After stopping at two different park locations, listed on their website as having the passes, Mrs.Mini and myself had to break down and mail in ours. It cost us an extra $10 apiece ($40 total for 2 passes) but it was well worth it. With just the trips we have planned for this year we'll recover the ...

Re: Front tire for GL1500....again?

I forgot to mention that I run ceramic beads for balancing. I run 2oz. in the front and 3oz. in the rear. I've had no cupping on any of my front tires (I run them in my scooters also) since doing that. Here's where I got mine. Great price and really fast service.
