Re: Death wobble

My 1500 had the same problem.
I put a new Michellin Commander II on the front and the
wobble is GONE. I can now take my hands off of the bars
at any speed. I now have 8,000 miles on the Commander II
and the bike is still rock stable.

Re: Replacing Exhaust Pipes

Allen, I have a pair of almost new Harley FLH mufflers that you could have for $30, which is what I paid
for them. I bought them to put on my '76 GL-1000 but never used them.
I'm not far from you, near Lake Hopatcong NJ.

Re: Do you have a vintage ride??

I have two vintage rides. I have a '76 GL-1000 Goldwing and a '77 Honda Trail 90. Both are registered and ridden regularly. My Trail 90 has what I call the "optional touring package". http://goldwingdocs.com/UserImages/offcenter_51582/Bike-Pics_2310/P1020478-1077-x-808_13625.jpg http://goldwin...

Re: Darkside Tech: Using Car Tires on a Motorcycle Rim

I'll add my two cents to this. I'm currently running a Nokian 195 65 light truck tire on the rear of my GL 1500. (I picked that tire because it was exactly the same diameter, 26 inches, as the bike tire that came on the bike.) For the first thousand miles or so, it felt very squirreley at highway sp...

Re: Why use the radio speakers

I wear a half helmet, so my ears are exposed.
Can't stand to have anything stuck in my ears.
I upgraded the speakers on my bike and they sound GREAT!
Most of my riding is back roads anyway, and I have no trouble
hearing the stereo at 50 mph or so.

The have a Valkyrie on display. As I said I'm 6'3" and a little with a 9' reach. I can't touch the bottom of the engine nacelles. Now THAT'S quite a ship.
They have "THE" Valkyrie.....
Only two were ever built and one crashed.

Another vote for the Commander II....on the front.
I run a Nokian car tire on the rear.
Over 8,000 miles so far and very little wear.

25 mpg is crazy!
I get a fairly constant 42 with mine.
On a recent highway run from Boston to N.J. I got 45.
Good luck figuring out what's wrong.

Re: Shorty windshield

I cut the original Honda windshield down and it's perfect for me.
No buffeting or turbulence that I notice.
I'm 5' 8" and this is even with my nose.
I can still raise it up in rain or cold weather.

Re: Headlight bulb to LED

My '76 GL has been running a LED headlight for several years now. I got a H4 replacement bulb off of Ebay. It has a small fan on the back to cool the bulb. Been working fine for around 7,000 miles now. As I recall, it was around $16 at the time. It is MUCH brighter than the stock bulb. :D P.S. Just ...

Re: After market seats or saddle

It's been said that the stock GW seat fits almost no one. Well, I must be the lucky one here. I find the stock seat on my '99 1500 to be perfect for me. I often ride long days with my bike club and I never get off that bike hurting. Recently did five hours straight through from Boston back to NJ, no...

Re: bike storage (mice)

Had problems with mice in my older garage one winter. Moth balls didn't do much, and drier sheets make nice nesting material for them,,,, ;) Bought some cheapy ultrasonic rodent repellers on ebay, but doubt they really do anything. Threw them away in the end because don't feel comfortable with anyt...

Here's a new one for ya!

At least it's a new one for me. Never seen anything like it before. I headed out yesterday morning on my '99 Goldwing to meet some friends for breakfast. I didn't make it. About 150 feet out of my driveway, the left side foot peg BROKE OFF and landed in the road! Those pegs pivot up and back like ma...

Re: Opportunity knocking or should I bolt the door?

A four wheeler wouldn't be a trike. Might be a "quike"?? My concern would be getting it registered for the road. Most state's laws clearly state that a motorcycle is a two or three wheeled vehicle. Once it has four wheels, it's a car....in this case it would be car that doesn't meet any safety stand...

Ok, I just ordered one of these.
Now I'll have knots in my stomach until I get it and try it out.
I hope it works as advertised and is not a bomb like the biker pro
turned out to be.
$198 may not be much to some people, but to me it's a lot to
spend on a toy.
