Re: Should I be upset?

Glad to hear that you had enough space to stop. Poor job to say the least. What kind of paid mechanic would do a brake job and NOT give the bike a test ride before returning it. That's the kind of honest mistake you might make on your own machine, But they must hold themselves to a higher standard w...

Re: switch

Spray some electrical cleaner directly into the "start button". Key off, press the button a number a times while using the cleaner. Give it a few minutes and start it up, this will usually cure the headlight problem. good luck.

Re: Getting All I Can In

Tough news, I know. Wait and see how you feel. I was diagnosed with Advanced stg 4 renal cell cancer in December after having a kidney w/ large tumor removed, discovered numerous nodules in all lobes of my lungs, was told 24 months. I was on daily oral chemo for 3 months (failed) that left me feelin...

Re: White Smoke

There is a cross-over chamber on the stock exhaust making it difficult to determine if it's right or left side. Best plan would be to do both sides and ride knowing they are both good.

Re: Wind deflectors or bat wings.....

Put them on. If they are Baker air wings they work great. In the closed position they block cold weather and in the open position they allow air to flow into the cockpit area. They are nice to have when you start early in cold weather and by mid day it becomes hot. I use mine all the time. I also we...

Re: SO IT's NOVEMBER WHO'S STILL RIDING?

Got to do an overnighter Thanksgiving weekend with a few friends. Pines to Palms Hwy 74 to the Palms Springs area. Temps ranged from 40* to 66*, crystal clear sunny days. Had to wait for few minutes on the Hwy. while the CHP cleaned up a sport bike crash.

Re: WHO HAS EVER DUMPED THEIR WING?

Got a little too froggy a few weeks ago and ended upside down. Thankfully the poison oak broke my fall. Thankfully again I always wear full protection. Took five of us to get her upright and up to the road. Amazingly it only bent the left mirror, I was expecting many more broken parts. She was upsid...

the shield is held onto the rear bracket by 2 small bolts. The shield also holds the rear brake line in place, protecting it from tire rub.

Got my first GW in 1978.....a 76 1000 that I added HD electra glide luggage to and had a friend paint it candy red to match. This pic is from a 1980 tour with my Dad and little brother and a few other father/son riders. Had great riding gear then, baseball jersey, jeans, wallabies and leather gloves...

I've never seen them in chrome...doesn't mean they don't exsist. Assuming you have all the badges, you may need to get creative with them. I'm sure some of the guys who have paint experience will chime in with some advice. Good luck.

Re: Flat rear Tire

Plugged the rear tire on my 1200 aspy shortly after having it mounted LY, maybe had 50 miles on the E3 Dunlop. Never lost a lb of air until the tire was worn out 11K miles later. I checked the tire often for peace of mind. Used the simple gooey rope plug, and rode it hard. It's a choice for the indi...

Re: what's in your saddle bags???

I have always carried a compact UMBRELLA. You'd be surprised how happy people are when you break out the portable shade. Doing repairs, waiting for assistance, or tending to injuries can get really hot. I carry a blue one, but the next one will be a high-viz red or orange. I started doing this in my...

Re: Bubble Tire

Looks like you took a sharp hit to the tire just below the top groove. With 20k that tire had to be worked over anyway, and the sharp hit must have broke the inner linings. 20K is a lot of miles for a rear, almost double what I get out of the same tire. I run bias ply tires though. We have all proba...

Re: My Father's 1986 GL1200 Interstate

Great bikes, those 1200's. Most common oil leaks are, valve cover gaskets, Shift pedal seal, rear master bleeder. Most likely the shift seal. I add 2-3 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil to a full tank and it really quiets the motor down. The 1200 handles great too. I have a manual somewhere, if you'd like it...

Great video! where did you have the camera mounted (very smooth video), what kind of camera do you have? and lastly what video editing software do you use? Thanks for the post. I didn't shoot the video, I was riding the blue 85 Aspencade. All I know is that it's a GoPro mounted to the right side mi...
