Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

NKYWinger, good to hear you are happy with it!

If you don't mind my asking, where did you end up putting the components in the fairing? Ex: Ballast to the left of the headlight (as you are looking at the front), etc?

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

Hi NKYWinger, Just a thought... you may not want to route through the Hi/Low on the regular switch for the main power of the HID. Reason being, as I understand it, when switching to Hi/Lo, there's a power interruption which may lead the HID Ballast to shut off and immediately try to power back up. T...

Re: G-max 3/4 helmet

Hi William, Yes, speakers are super easy to install. Whole liner comes out in 3 pieces: Head liner + each ear/cheek pad. Ear pads have the standard speaker pouch in them. My headsets are the cheapest J&M offer... I think they are like $80 bucks or something. They fit perfectly. Now, if I can only ke...

Waitaminute.... You got PAID to BLOW THINGS UP?!?! I would plan to build my whole career around that!! What was the most catastrophic failure you had seen? How long would someone in Portugeezers scenario have to notice that something was really wrong? From the pictures, it looks like unless he was r...

Why Saddlemen will have a customer for LIFE now!

I just wanted to pop in and pass along my story that made this Christmas extra special. I've been looking for a new seat for my 85 GL1200A. The seat I have is nearly immaculate, but I suffer from something affectionately known as 'tractor butt' and need a comfier ride. Having looked all over, I let ...

Re: 2013 Honda Goldwing F6B - BREAKING NEWS!

Ick... just.... guh.... I can see WHY they did this... lots of Gen Xers who were raised on sport bikes are now looking for that "more comfortable ride" as their tailbones get more cushy. So Marketing says "Trim it, Slim it, Ship it" and we get this. Nope. Not to my liking at all. Just... ugh... Even...

Re: 87 GL1200 aspencade, Air suspension system questions

Hi there, One other thing to keep in mind: If you are ever looking to use the compressor to inflate your tires, you need to set your ignition to the PARK position first. That is the ONLY setting that the compressor will run if the button is pushed. Took me a LONG time to figure that out... I thought...

Re: GL 1200 Intercom

Ah... Ok... just wanted to point out some fun I've been having... This may just be how the PO hooked up things on my Aspencade... I have no real point of reference.... BUT.... getting audio to your headset may be odd. On my setup: Pressing the Speakers/Headset button on the HEAD UNIT WITHOUT HEADSET...

wolf,

With the no speedo issue, do you see a display and it's just not reading a speed, or the display is not showing anything?

Re: 1200A LED lights

WingAdmin, Quick question about the LED replacements... If you do a straight swap for all of the lights (running, brake, turn) I've heard that they will work fine, but your instrument panel will turn on the Light warning indicator due to the decreased draw and resistance of the LEDs. Is this true, o...

Re: GL 1200 Intercom

I got the J&M cheapies off of eBay. About $80 a set. Seller was selling them in a pair, so I got them for like $150. No complaints. Good sound. I have an Open Face helmet so the mic does pick up wind noise, even with the screen on it, but people can still hear what I am saying when I talk. Just out ...

The GL1200 'clunk'....

So, I was out riding yesterday and became aware of a clunk sound made in 1st gear when taking off from a dead stop. To be clear, this isn't the clunk heard when going into 1st gear, the bike is already in gear and as I would roll away, gear engaged, there would be an audible clunk heard as it passed...

Sierra-MC... LOVE those guys!

I just wanted to drop a quick post about how impressed I am with Sierra-mc.com... true professional, in my opinion!! I have an 85 Aspencade and the RM-1100 radio was not working well at ALL. The tuning switch and mute switch weren't working, tape belt was dust, sound kept dropping out, etc. etc. All...

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

I ordered the TDR-P (Positive switching). I could be wrong, but I don't think there would be much of a difference with going either way... other than what wire you put it on, that is. I've been reading reviews and people recommend trying a few different variations on timing for a while, then once yo...

Re: G-max 3/4 helmet

Which model is it? I have a GMAX 67s which I LOVE. It's a 3/4 helmet, comes with the visor trim and a clear full-face shield for different looks. My favorite feature? The built in, drop-down smoke shield! I wear prescription glasses, have a head that still one-size larger than their biggest helmet o...

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

Pardon my ignorance on the matter, feetup, but wouldn't I want it the positive line to still go into the Hi/Lo switch for the headlight?

Just wiring the HID + TDR into accessories would leave it just in the 'Lo' setting, wouldn't it?

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

Yeah, I like the Timed Delay Relay idea, so I ordered the WolstenTech TDR-P unit today. It's back ordered by 1-2 weeks, but I won't be able to jump on installing the HID until around then anyway. I REALLY like the idea of being able to adjust the delay time on this unit. I figure a 12-15 second dela...

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

Thank you for the warm welcome and the awesome response! One thing about wiring it up to the oil sensor... I'd be worried that if something bad happened, and the oil light suddenly comes on, that would mean the headlight would go out, right? I don't want to jinx myself, but my middle name should be ...

Re: HID Headlight for 1100/1200

Nice write-up! So nice, that I just bought a kit for myself! They were out of stock on the 5K, so I got a 6K. AND, this is my first post on the site, even though I've been lurking for sometime now! Quick questions: - You mentioned the solenoid handling Hi/Lo... is that built into the system, or some...
