Re: Blackwing Fork brace Installtion
Goldwinger356 you are correct do not modify your brace. If it isn't fitting something is out of wack on you motorcycle

Re: Blackwing Fork brace Installtion
If you are able to get the brace on without tp much force I would think you are fine. It is a tight fit. When I installed mine it wasn't even close to fitting. I found my forks were out of alignment from from when they installed the new front tire. I readjusted the forks how they were supposed to be...
Re: Magic Gas
If it works and reviews say it does it would be a great for emergencies and that is what it is intended for. If you want to carry extra gas without the danger this is what you need. For $15.00 you toss it in you saddlebag or trunk as a safety net

Re: Reusable Oil Filters
When I read your post the first question that came to mind was why? So from there I did a little research on these filters. It seems just like the time old filters. It seem messy and unnecessary. These engines last forever on paper filters so what is the benefit?

Re: diesel oil?
I used it in my 1200 and it worked well. I tried it in my 1500 and it was ok but my 1500 likes the Mobile synthetic motorcycle oil better.

Re: How to Rid Seat of Mouse Urine Odor
I used a product called oder ban it has removed just about every smell I could throw at it. We hit a skunk with our car one time and could not get rid of the smell until I used this. My friend had a gallon of milk break open in his car and on a hot day you wanted to die. He tried everything and was ...

I have had a few different types and I think the Utopia is the most comfortable and easiest to remove if you don't want to use it. It is also small enough to store when on the road

Re: Is your shield high or low?
Mine is set as high as I can get it. I wish it was a little taller since I wear a modular helmet and if i have the face shield up I get a little buffeting. I hear people complain about looking through it when the weather is bad or a lot of dirt is being kicked up. I don't see the difference between ...

You might end up with more then expected. I know in my case I was planning on coming Friday but work changed that plan. I am still a possible as I am trying to work coming in early Saturday. I just can't commit to being there at this time. I am sure there's others in the same boat. The event I have ...

Re: Fork oil change
Drain screws are on the bottom of the fork tubes if I remember correctly on th e back side. You can do a change without removing the forks. I think there is a how to on this site for changing the oil. The manual calls for ATF and that is whst I used. Since oil has always been debated I changed mine ...

Re: Drivers Backrest
I had a through the seat backrest on my 1200 and I liked it a lot. I have been thinking about getting on for 1500. The only thing holding me back is my seat is getting a little worn so I might change the whole seat with one built in.

Re: 1995 GL1500 passenger weight
Shock issue is factory. From what I under stand the air shock on the 1500 is more of a ride hight adjustment. My wife and I also exceed the weight limit on the 1500 but riding around looking at other riders I think we are ok. I see much larger couples riding all the time. I also see them loaded down...

Re: Drivers Backrest
Wow I sold my whole backrest that was in very good condition for $60.00. I sold to low or those arms are overpriced. Oh and that is what I paid for it. I didn't like the way it hit my ba k and my wife didn't like the bars hitting her legs.

Re: New bike for the price of a set of tires
When tires age they start harden and loose their flexibility. It happens slowly so you almost never realize how bad they are until you put new tires on. I purchase a bike with very old good looking tires and I hated the way the bike handled. I was thinking new springs, shock rebuild and so on. I ins...

Re: Countersteering: Watch this and save your life
I read about countersteering back in the 70's. Thought it was cool so I started using and you are right now I don't even think about it. It has become second nature. I have talked to a few new riders about it and they look at me like I am crazy.

Re: GoldwingsDocs Gathering Sep 22-24, 2017
365 days in a year and it seems like work meetings get scheduled only on days I have something going on. Re: 5W-20 oil
I use what the manufacturer recommends and never have a problem. I run my cars 250,000 to 300,000 miles on whatever the recommended oil is. Some were 10/30 5/30 5/20 and yes 0/20 I can't complain to the manufacturer if I have an oil related failure and wasn't following their recommendations. I drive...

Re: Does your wife-girlfriend ride?
My wife won't ride anymore on her own she only wants to be a passenger. I don't like having a passenger since it isn't as comfortable. I have to say the biggest reason is if something goes wrong or I make a mistake and that person got hurt I wouldn't be able to live with myself.

Re: How hot does it have to be before you won't ride?
Once it hits the upper 90's I limit my time on the bike above that I don't ride or at least far. I left out one day early and by mid day it was 108 and I was 3 hours from home. It was miserable and getting worse. I decided to jump on the interstate and make a run for home. I thought the wind would b...

Re: Front Suspension Question
I think I would start with checking for play in the front end and goose neck. I would then drain the fork oil and fill with ATF it is inexpensive and what Honda calls for in their manual. I found ATF works best for me. The oil might be old dirty and low in one or both forks. If you have oil under th...

Re: Shifter seal
Mine was miserable to get off. I had to remove the frame bolts and pry harder then I was comfortable with to get it off. What l found is there was a bit of a hump or extra material on the shift lever when casted. Once I had it off I used a grinder to remove the extra material and now it can be easil...
