Re: 2000/1500 SE Tires?

... before it cupped so bad I didn't trust it. The rear tire had a bunch of lead on it that I removed.[/quote] So, I found that keeping my lead on the rim worked better for me. The tire was balanced with that lead on there and I use the DynaBeads to just "keep" the tire balanced during tread-wear, ...

Re: 2000/1500 SE Tires?

... before it cupped so bad I didn't trust it. I'm telling you, IMHO, the absolute best preventative measure that can be done to completely eliminate cupping, is putting DynaBeads in the tires. There's a little bit of preparation that should be done to the inside of the tire; i.e. cleaned and dried...

Re: Motorcycle Hacks

Wow! I'm such a Prepper! I do/have most of these things in my bike at all times. I use nitrite gloves for the wet hands hack all the time because if your gloves get soaked, your hands stay dry so when you stop and take them off, your hands warm up very fast. Also, I love the idea of putting the plas...

Re: Riding next to tractor trailers

Having been an Over-The-Road truck driver for more than 12 years, I can say that is not nearly as scary for us as it is for those on the road around us. I actually had an inner trailer tire go out and didn't even know it or feel it until I was told by motorists flagging me down. Just don't blame the...

Re: What does every one do for a living?

I'm 42 and am Active Duty Army. I'm in the Signal Corps, so I'm a computer nerd and only just purchased my first Goldwing (my current one) at the age of 40. My step-dad always had Goldwings while I was growing up and would deck them out with lights and chrome only to trade them in about every 3 year...

Re: Riding next to tractor trailers

So the one thing that I haven't heard in this conversation is something that I do on a regular basis. I do this with cages as well as semi's. As I approach any vehicle, I place myself on the right-most side of the lane that I'm in. As I'm coming up behind the said vehicle, I have been told and belie...

1995 GL1500 stripped brake caliper bolt

So I was all set to purchase the required bolt when I got back from my Temporary Duty Assignment, but have now discovered that the Honda Direct website I was going to purchase the bolt from has been shut down. DAMNIT MAN! I hate it when that happens. Well for a little back story, I was trying to get...

I'm also going CT as it is supposed to soak up some of the smaller harsher bumps. PS I was concerned about the difference in storage as well, but we had no problem packing enough for a couple of weeks. That's including taking a small Slime compressor in case I get a flat. Two questions; well one comm...

Re: Darkside tire change

Rogue,

Thanks, that really helps. I have a Corbin seat right now (came with the bike) and it's more like a SADDLE! Man is it hard and uncomfortable! That's why I'm looking at the Saddleman because they use memory foam with gel on top.

Thanks again.

Re: Air Compressor

What pressure setting do you use for "Max" rear suspension when you are sitting on the bike? I've had mine up to about 90psi with a passenger, which drops back down to 50-60 when they get off. But I've never heard what the max rating is on the GL1500... Mines a '95. Also, I'm shorter than some at 5'...

I had to run the rear suspension at max with the Austone for clearance to the tire and am continuing to do so with this tire for ride height reasons. This is great to know. I'll pick up a couple at NAPA soon. I only just read that the timing belts were so important and so I'm planning on doing mine this week.

Thanks again for the info.

Cool, good advise. This is sort of off topic but maybe you'll forgive me; I've been having more and more trouble getting her to go into first gear. When I down shift at stops she wants to stay in Neutral and I end up having to really hit the shifter hard to get it into first. I've got after market h...
