Re: How to wire LED lights

I built my own harness for the LED's on my bike. Each LED string has it own connector to allow for removal if needed. My LED strings are RGB which require 4 wires per string. Mine are powered from the fuse box accy fuse to a 3 switch assembly mounted on the hand brake master cylinder. http://cyclema...

Re: Hi everybody! New rider in Abbotsford, BC

Welcome to the forum from the Pacific Northwest. In Oregon it is required to take the motorcycle course in order to get your endorsement. One thing about taking a course is you not only learn from your book (in your case) but you get the knowledge from other experienced riders. Motorcycles are very ...

I've never been snubbed by any motorcyclist, one thing I do know, when I meet another motorcyclist I always start up a conversation and they all like to talk about their bikes.

Re: Static Strips

I use McKee's 37 Plex-All. I use it on my windshield and all the plastics on the bike, it cleans and polishes and I don't seem to attract that much dust anymore. It used to be I would clean and polish the bike, then after about 30 minutes the dust was there.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest, this site is very good and a lot of knowledgeable people on here. I do believe it is the last remaining Gold Wing forum on the net that is still ran and owned by a single person, Wingadmin.

Tour of Honor rides

Just wondering how many on this forum are doing the Tour of Honor ride. I'm planning on doing the Western States, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Nevada and California. The rides starts on April 1st and ends on October 31st. This is a link to the ride: http://www.tourofhonor.com/index.html. Ther...

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings

I sometimes ride with a couple of guys out of Grants Pass, Oregon, one is 85 and the other is 81, they both ride GL1800's. They remarked that when they get to the age of not being able to ride anymore, then they will think about giving up riding, they can not see themselves on 3 wheels. I'm 67, and ...

Re: Average age ?

49 now, but have been riding Golds since 27...and ask my wife, I do not act my age at all, lol. I do agree with the "groups" comment, I rode with GWTA for a long time and I was definitely one of the youngest by far and got to a point of riding to the same places doing the same things, so stopped th...

I think a heel-toe shifter would be just what he needs, you up shift with the heel and down shift with the toe.

Here it is March 14th, the sun is out and the temps are suppose to get into the low 70's, guess what I'll be doing today, yep, going for a ride. It's been a long winter here in Southern Oregon. Going to ride up to Applegate Dam which is always a nice ride.

Bumping your helmet on the windshield seems to be a common issue with the Tulsa's, when I had my 1500 I bumped my helmet everytime.

Re: The "had to lay 'er down" myth debunked

I had the same thing happen to me, I entered the traffic circle and a driver pulled out in front of me, applied both the front and rear brakes the bike came to a stop. The speed I was traveling was about 15 miles an hour, traffic circle speeds are not normally faster than 20 mph. I was most worried ...

Re: Why Hello There

Welcome Daniel, as you have found out, there is a lot of good information on this forum. I'm on my 3rd Gold Wing, the first was a 1979 GL1000, then I had a 1998 GL1500 and now I ride a 2012 GL1800. I tried a Yamaha Venture Royal, it was a nice bike but a little top heavy. Again, welcome

Dave, we had a nice day yesterday, no rain, so I did take the bike and the grand daughter for a ride. We rode up to Applegate Lake, it's about an hour ride from the house, all the leaves are turning, my grand daughter, who is 10, said it looks like some took a paint brush to the mountains and painte...

Re: Stator Information

Dave, at some point your just going to have to "bite the bullet" and pick the one that you feel is the best buy and hope for the best. I can understand the concern in replacing the stator in your GL1000, it's not an easy job to do. It's time like these that make one wish they had a twin V.

Re: Stator Information

Dave, I'm wondering how they achieve a computer controlled stator winding, I'm scratching my head on this one. Typically the stator winding will have a max fixed output depending on how many windings there are on each post, and seeings how the field is being generated by the permanent magnets, there...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier

Based on Canadian dollars, and shopping on Ebay, I can purchase a regulator/rectifier from a low price of $21 to a high of $200 (all-in). My question is: Which one would you buy, and why? I see that one is nearly 10 times more expensive than the other. That's a lot of money!..................Dave D...
