Re: longevity of timing belts?

I usually run my belts for 160,000 km/100,000 mi before installing another set of Gates timing belts. Cheapest price is from Rock Auto.
Honda recommends they be inspected, every 100,000 mi!

Re: tires gl 1500

I used to like the Dunlop E3s, but since they changed to the E4, I will not try out the front E4 as it has a center rib tread design and through my many years/miles of riding experience, ribbed tires tend to follow tar snakes/road irregularities and are affected far more by grated surfaces (like gra...

Re: Austone Taxi Tire

I mount all my own tires - and while I've done it in my garage with tire irons and sweat, I now cheat a bit - I have a friend with a professional motorcycle tire mounting machine in his shop. Does your buddy need any more friends? ;) Or I could have my lovely lady friend make him a pie or cookies. ...

Re: Austone Taxi Tire

The Yok 195/55R-16 has a diameter of 24.44 vs the 26.08" of the 160/80-16, for a difference of - 1.64'' in total difference, but half of that for ride height difference. I don't ride as aggressively as I used to, so scraping parts earlier are not really noticeable for me. BTW, I'd make sure the pric...

Re: Rear rack weight limit ?

If you plan an carrying any much over 7 lbs, I highly suggest getting a pair of Rudy's trunk lid reinforcement panels before you crack your lid. !!! It's not a matter of if it will crack, it's a matter of when if you carry anything on it! I thought I was safe with adding large washers below and the ...

Re: Austone Taxi Tire

The size of the rear tire has no impact on the speedo, as it is driven off the front wheel.

No, no rub issues at all. The run flat has stiffer sidewalls than normal tires, yet the ride is good.

Re: Delo400le 15w-40 is gone, now what?

While all seemed fine for the 1st 2-300 mi after changing over to it in preparation of a trip, with smoother shifting/quieter engine at first, after 500 mi. into a tour, the engine became noisy and shifting very notchy. When I got to my location in Calhoun, GA, I couldn't wait to dump it. It was tot...

I switched over to Shell Rotella T 15W-40 as the Dello is getting very hard to find. Seems to be very comparable Hey Dusty, how's it going?? Isn't the 15 part a little thick for first starts in our cold Canadian climate?? Hey Chuck! I switched to using 15W-40 since I had 30,000 km on bike and at ov...

Re: Knocking from engine when idol

Make sure your swing arm isn't rusted near the front and rubbing on tire. Carbs probably need to be synced. Won't hurt to add a half can of SeaFoam to the gas tank and let it idle for quite a while to help clean carbs. Adjust clutch cable properly. Make sure rear master cylinder port not plugged as ...

Tire pressure far to low, Front should be at lest 38 - 40 and rear 41 Have you changed the air filter in the last while? Brakes sticking/dragging? How many miles on current set of plugs? What type/height of windshield are you using? I typically get 35 -38 mpg @ 60-65 mph when loaded down for touring...

Re: The loneliest road in America???

Tom, this is the route I'd suggest! ;) https://goo.gl/maps/Ey6noa4WT232 Lake Tahoe is a 'zoo' any time I've been through there. Instead of I-80, take the Donner Pass Rd once you get to Truckee Great scenery and roads. When you get to Crater Lake ride the eastern Rim road if open! Lake Tahoe; 6564731...

Re: The loneliest road in America???

I like 50, as it's a cooler alternative (middle of Aug) to cutting across Death Valley and it seemed cooler than I-80 (which is boring) As mentioned previously, although there are adequate fuel stops, don't pass them up! I camped for the night at Bob Scott Campground in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National...

Can't say for sure, as the 89/90 models have a few parts that are particular to them but I do know for a fact that a seat for a 2000 model does fit my 92. Seeing as they fit mine perfect, I'd think it's a fairly safe bet to assume it would fit yours Only difference is colour (my OEM seat is Cosmopol...

Re: 95 rear wheel Cush drive. How much movement?

If you order the complete dampener set (part# 06410-MBH-000) for a 2000 Honda GL1500CF Valkyrie Interstate, the rubbers and inserts come as a complete package and when I ordered that for a replacement for my 92 Aspencade (exact fit!) back in July 2016, it cost me $37.77 from Wingstuff
