Re: The loneliest road in America???

Tom, this is the route I'd suggest! ;) https://goo.gl/maps/Ey6noa4WT232 Lake Tahoe is a 'zoo' any time I've been through there. Instead of I-80, take the Donner Pass Rd once you get to Truckee Great scenery and roads. When you get to Crater Lake ride the eastern Rim road if open! Lake Tahoe; 6564731...

Re: The loneliest road in America???

I like 50, as it's a cooler alternative (middle of Aug) to cutting across Death Valley and it seemed cooler than I-80 (which is boring) As mentioned previously, although there are adequate fuel stops, don't pass them up! I camped for the night at Bob Scott Campground in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National...

YES!

I don't bother with them anymore as they get very dirty, very fast anytime it rains and I ride a fair amount in the rain!

Re: Are All Gl1500 seats/saddles the same?

Can't say for sure, as the 89/90 models have a few parts that are particular to them but I do know for a fact that a seat for a 2000 model does fit my 92. Seeing as they fit mine perfect, I'd think it's a fairly safe bet to assume it would fit yours Only difference is colour (my OEM seat is Cosmopol...

Re: Show Chrome LED dual conversion harness 13-307

I got around to mocking up my intended set up on my workbench this morning, using 1 of the 2 circuits I got to power up 2 arrays of LED strips. I'll be using one as runningboard running lights and turn signals and the other will be up front as a marker/turn signal (in addition to the front turn sign...

Show Chrome LED dual conversion harness 13-307

Has any one here tried/use the Show Chrome LED dual conversion harness 13-307 that Gary at Cyclemax sells ? User experience??? B13-307.JPG Seeing as how my new to me Victory Cross Country Tour only has a headlight up front and no running lights, I was thinking on adding a small amber LED array on ea...

If you order the complete dampener set (part# 06410-MBH-000) for a 2000 Honda GL1500CF Valkyrie Interstate, the rubbers and inserts come as a complete package and when I ordered that for a replacement for my 92 Aspencade (exact fit!) back in July 2016, it cost me $37.77 from Wingstuff

Re: best tire that has long life and best ride

Looks like another Metzler delaminated. (?) Dunlop Elite 4s have one of the highest weight ratings for a Moto tire and decent mileage. Not sure how the 4's ride as they are fairly recent and I have never tried, only the E3's, which were my go to tire. A darkside tire will get you a very high weight ...

Nah ... not an issue of no reverse on the new bike, just a case of wanting to 'simplify' and go back to travelling 'unemcoumbered', like I had been doing since 1974! My new to me bike has a trailer hitch/wiring harness (PO was a Lees-ure Lite camper dealer) and watching how/where you park eliminates...

Re: Which lift to buy?

I don't have any spare floor 'real estate' for a dedicated, hydraulic lift, (never mind the cost of them up here!! ) so the wooden platform that I built was designed to fit under my workbench when not in use. I built it out of 5/4" x 6" pressure treated lumber with a 3/4" ply top. I use 2 4" ...

Re: What Trailer can i really tow?

Why not invest in a nice cargo trailer? You could pack more stuff than on your bike, including a little larger tent and a cot! No real weight/stopping issues as with a tent trailer and that spare axle gets a lot of weight off of the bike itself!! I invested just under $275 for my home built o...

Re: Has anybody ever heard of has anybody ever heard of acorns in the air filter?

Yup, I came home from a 5 week tour in late Oct one year, The weather turned south for 3 weeks and I was unable to ride. My bike was parked outside in a covered parking spot at my complex I was living in at the time. When I pulled my air filter cover that spring to do maintenance, this is what I fou...

Re: camping

If you're comfortable/enjoy tent camping and can fit all your needed gear in/on the bike , then why not give that a shot. Although you may not have all the 'comfort/ luxuries' of what you can pack in a camper, tent camping off a bike has a lot of advantages including economy (far better fuel mileage...

Re: Michelin Pilot Activ and Pirelli Sport Demon

Hey Dave I've run the Michelin Pilot Activ 130/70-18 as a double darkside tire up front before. I found the tire to track/handle very well, has great wet weather grip, although it was just a little bit noisy under braking (front) Out of all the tires I have tried double dark, it was the best as far ...
