Re: Plastic bubble

I have never noticed a sound like that on my 2003 either. If you think there may be a problem, give us a little more detailed info.

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Consider the Traxxion Dynamics rear shock upgrade, huge improvement over the factory stuff! My bike has 34000 miles on it.. It rides and handles well. Don't see the need to spend 500 bucks on a rear shock to replace on that is working as designed. Cleaned up some things. Installed the alternator an...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Great idea, but money is tight right now with buying a house and a cross country move coming up. Have to be another time. Pulled the alternator today and found another loose clamp, turned it a turn or so. Put coolant back in and Pressurized the system to 15 lbs and let it set under pressure for abou...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

I found one leak in the bypass hose just under the tank. I now have the system pressurized to 10 lbs and have let it set for several hours without any loss of pressure. I am going to let it set that way overnight and see if there is any change in the morning. Hopefully, no other leak will show up. T...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Got motivated this afternoon and pulled the fuel tank. Can't see too much but there appears to be seapage in a couple of places. I will have to pull the alternator and maybe the starter to be able to see down below the water pump. Here are a couple of pics I took from the top... I need to presurize ...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Move has been delayed until sometime in late January, so I will try to do it here when I can catch a warmer day. Pulled the overflow tank off and its OK. Still can't see up in there enough to tell where the leak is coming from. Bike has only 34K miles on it, so hopefully it isn't the water pump.

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

The belly pan was removed when I first saw the leak. I just took another look and I have droplets on the back of the transmission, so the leak appears to be coming from the rear somewhere near the water pump. As soon as I get time, I will pull the seat and see if I can get the fuel out of the gas ta...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

I took a look with a flashlight this morning and could not see any sign of a leak. I then pulled the lockable box and checked the radiator level, it is down to where you can't see coolant. My guess it is a hose or a clamp broken, so I will try removing the fuel tank. BTW, I have a pan installed to p...

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

Since I have 10 days before my move, I will most likely wait until I get to Florida (warmer weather), to fix this problem. I will ride my Virago 1100 to the toy run this Saturday. Thanks for all the good advice.

Re: Antifreeze Leaking

I would like to do that. But it looks like I will have to remove a lot of parts to get to the water pump area. It's also possible that a clamp may be broken. I am trying to find out if there is an easy way to get to that area to check the clamps without having to pull half the bike apart.....

Antifreeze Leaking

My bike has been setting for about a month. I went out to get it ready for a toy run next weekend and I found antifreeze leaking out the lower part of the engine and running down the center stand. Not much, but enough to be of concern. I ran the engine for about half an hour and although the bike di...

Re: Hauling an 1800 across country

Couple of things to remember when renting a uhaul. The one-way rates are based on several factors including the work load to your destination and from your starting point. The beginning and end of months are the busiest times and one-way rates are higher. Try to stick to mid-month. Stay away from h...

Re: Hauling an 1800 across country

I'm buying a place in Port St. John, a Cocoa address. My son and family live in Rockledge. I lived in Jupiter for about 13 years back in the 80'-90's and moved back to California because of family. I have always wanted to move back to Florida and am glad its finally happening.

Re: Hauling an 1800 across country

Thanks for all the reply's... Some great ideas here. Interesting I didn't get a notification! It is rainy season in California and I have some stuff that shouldn't get wet and some things that might tempt some joker at night while I am stopped at a hotel in my 6x12 open trailer. Getting the GW into ...

Hauling an 1800 across country

I am making a cross country move in a couple of weeks and am renting a Uhaul enclosed trailer for the 1st trip. I am taking my 2003 Goldwing and another smaller bike. Is there anything in particular I should be aware of? Should I put it on the center stand in the trailer, secure it on the side stand...

Re: Hard Shift 1st to 2nd

I think its normal. Only have 30K on my goldwing and 17K on the Virago, Both have the clunk noise when shifting down from 2nd to 1st gear.
