Re: Camping trailer opinions

Ok, it must be the pole for the add-a-room. There is only one but I haven't put that up yet. My bunkhouse is a 1998 so it doesn't have any awnings on it and no end window. And currently it's down for repair. Somehow I ripped it near one of the brackets. Get that done in a couple weeks so I can take ...

Re: Camping trailer opinions

SidecarMike,

The extension of the door, does that use two fiberglass poles or just one? I have one fiberglass pole I am still trying to figure out where to use. Now I am thinking it goes on the door when it is put up like you show in the last photo. Is that it?

Thank you.

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

When I started out, my first bike was a 1970 Yamaha xs650 partially chopped with Hooker Headers on it. Since the baffling was gone, they were loud. I hadn't read much yet and thought my helmet was adequate protection against hearing loss. A couple years later I had subscriptions to a few motorcycle ...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

I just put in my little story about ATGATT and I always wear a helmet. Colorado doesn't require helmets but I do! Under Goldwing Chat, look for Careless (Posted today 6/14/2017) and you'll read about my little mishap. Yes, I was wearing my helmet thank goodness. Mild concussion and retrograde amnesi...

Forgot to mention, I had about 75,000 miles with no accidents!

Can't say that now.

We all know how we have to pay close attention to traffic and such but I had a short moment checking traffic and ended up clipping my son on his bike. Luckily I was the only one that got any real damage. We were making the merge onto another road with my son in the lead. I checked for traffic, one S...

Re: My "New" Bunkhouse Trailer

I was driving by myself. We didn't load the trailer full but I guesstimate that I was about 420 lbs. The bike towed it with no stability problems. My top speed of 55-60 was only when I had a head wind. When it hit me from almost straight on my bike could not go much faster. I decided it wasn't worth...

Re: My "New" Bunkhouse Trailer

My son and I just came back from a trip. Unfortunately had to come back about 5 days early due to a personal problem at home. This was the third year we tried to take this trip so we think we're just not destined to do it! LOL. It was a short but very enjoyable trip. I did find out that the GL1100 f...

Re: Close to finish

I can't help but relate. My 1982 was sitting at a tire shop and one of the "mechanics" decided to work on it a little. His name was Rob. Well, I replaced quite a few items that were removed but not put back in. My son and I refer to it that I was "Robbed" everytime we ran into one of his "repairs". ...

Re: Tent Repair

Wow! I was thinking of sewing it but wasn't sure how but now I know how to do it. It looks like it would be a great repair and hold very well. I'll look for the polyester thread that matches my tent as close as possible and then the sealer. The baby powder is a nice touch. I think that will do it. W...

Tent Repair

I have my 1998 Bunkhouse Camper Trailer and I have a tear in the tent. It wasn't there when I bought it so I must have folded something wrong and caused a tear. It's 400 denier Nylon Oxford fabric unless they have changed it from then to now. Any ideas how to make a permanent repair on this type fab...

Re: My "New" Bunkhouse Trailer

Just a couple pictures from our trip. Not quite in order, we got caught on the road in two rain/hail storms. The first one wasn't bad with just pea size hail but the second one went to marble size and a little bigger. The second one is our first night camping in Dumas, Texas. Free campsite but a lit...

Re: Finally...

I'll definitely get the scale today so I can check it. I don't know if anyone can do the bearings before I leave. It's stable on the straightaways but wobbles a little when I go into a corner. Not very serious but concerning none the less. Looks like I'll be making a few calls tomorrow to find someo...

Re: Finally...

Almost forgot to mention, I have also changed all my lights over to LED on the bike and trailer. Left the turn signals since LEDs don't flash without the resister. Brighter and lower power usage. Very pleased with it! In the process of changing the 1980 over. Ordered in the headlight, got a couple e...

Re: Finally...

Oops, I never answered. Sorry getting ready for the trip is keeping me busy. This trailer is new to me. I bought it in February but just got it wired up. The bikes were keeping us busy. It was advertised as a 1989 but after buying it and posting pictures it was pointed out to me that it was more lik...

Re: Finally...

For some reason I never even considered the local Walmart! If it's nice enough this weekend I may just go out to camp with it. Maybe a bit cool at night but I have warm sleeping bags, liners, and would like to try it. The pad is a little thin I think but I have some egg shell pads waiting at our fir...

Hey Aussie, You can say that again. Finding those pictures were really nice though I don't know if my son used them or simply worked through it like he is known to do! I wish I had saved the page but I didn't so I don't know where to send people. It was from this site so a little research should loc...

Re: Carburetor Problem

Ok I will type again. No idea why the site wants me to sign in a second time after I typed all my post but I'll retype it for people with similar problems. We had narrowed our problem down to a carb only problem. Anything else wasn't the issue since the 1982 runs fine on the carbs from the 1980. So ...

Re: Carburetor Problem

Just an update on our high speed miss on a 1982 GL1100 Aspencade. We talked to our local mechanic at the playground (read motorcycle salvage yard) and he stated that I had missed a jet. Something was plugged and I wasn't finding it. So I turned my carbs over to my son and said see if you can find it...

With our trip just under 2 weeks away, we have the bikes finally running (1980 Goldwing & 1982 Aspencade) and just have to finish wiring up the Bunkhouse Trailer. We have converted to LED on the Aspencade (Except turn signals) and I have the light ordered in for the trailer. I know, why didn't I jus...

Re: Carburetor Problem

Hi Indiana, Exactly what I was trying to find! Something that told me where to expect air to come out of. My son has already found a clogged opening. He is going through each and every one of the ports and using the diagram to assure that they are unplugged. I hope this does the trick. Thanks so ver...

Re: Carburetor Problem

Thanks Aussie, We have measured and remeasured the float height and they are all set at 15.5mm like they should be. We can detect no binding on the needle and they appear to be setting correctly. Of course, it’s still a possibility. Measuring the fuel is something we have NOT done so that may be som...

Carburetor Problem

I've addressed this before but have new information and need to figure out what the heck is wrong. I have a 1982 GL1100 Aspencade. It has a high speed miss which I have been told by a mechanic is caused by a plugged air/fuel passage. Blow it out with air and it should solve the problem. But you need...
