Re: How cold will ya'll ride?

IMG_0130.JPG Well, the coldest I rode last year was 18 degrees F. Didn't have a problem staying warm with my gear but the roads were sketchy as frig and the best of it was what was showed in the picture. There was no snow when I left home but when I got off the ferry on the Seattle side of the comm...

Re: All you need to know about the new 2018 Goldwing

It's good to see the old poorly designed transmission go away but the are no SO MUCH more electronics to fail. I know... as is with all new tech vehicles. But that means with each module it is going to be a stack of Benji's to fix it. I also see no point in keeping the top end gear ratio the same bu...

Re: LED Eyebrows/Halo lighting installation

You only need one. There come as a set and there is a left and right wired strip in the package. It is relatively obvious which is which. And if not, power up the strip to make sure you know which way the lighting faces.

Re: GL1800 Oil Filter Protection

I don't have a belly pan on my ride and have lost 2 oil filters due to road debris. Should probably have a belly pan :) but I don't... yet. A filter sleeve might have saved me those other 2 times though.

Re: Afraid to drag some bits on the ground in a turn?

What acorn nuts? The footpegs have acorn nuts?! EXACTLY! Well, used to anyway. Acorns belong on the ground, thus with that reasoning they should be drug regularly! "So... if she weighs as much as a duck... she's a witch!" You can understand where my reasoning came from, right? (A serious Monty Pyth...

Danged ghosts are screwing with me...

SO my 1800 decided that it was going to start ghost shifting on me at random times, finding a neutral that doesn't exist between 3rd and 4th gears every once and awhile and just being generally cranky in the shifting department. It was 3 weeks before the original 3 year warranty ran out and the last...

Re: Afraid to drag some bits on the ground in a turn?

There is no bank angle sensor on that bike, I am guessing. Would defeat the whole purpose of what he is doing. I don't throw my ride around like that but I drag pegs all the time on my 1800. Part of the fun of riding a sporty sofa!

Re: Satellite radio install

I can't give you an exact answer as my bike came with the sat gear installed factory. Obviously a mobile kit is the way to go but you have to consider keeping it out of the rain. I know there are kits to keep a standard control head dry. I found a couple on amazon.... https://www.amazon.com/SIRIUS-S...

Re: Removing 2012GL-1800 Radiator/Fan assy's

I just went through a MAJOR teardown of the fairing on my 2012 due to an accident way back when. I had to strip the fairing assy down to it's unmentionables and was still probably 2 or 3 steps away from the radiators and fans. I really wish I had taken lots of video and pics of that for ya but after...

There was talk on the dark web about counterfeit keys being distributed for rodent intrusion but only the worst of the worst are getting them in their furry little paws. lol What I'd like to know is how the heck they are getting in there. If all the appropriate panels are on the bike, there is zero ...

Re: LED headlight

I got these delivered 2 days ago from Electrical Connection and am going to try and install them this weekend. 01052-1-500x302.jpg Those are the same lamps as the SoCal's I installed on my Wing. You WILL have install issues. Don't get me wrong they are bright as all get out and they work great but ...

Re: Sena SM10 Transmitter & SMH10 Bluetooth

I received my Sena 20s and the Freewire units. I used the Amazon locker p/u option this time around which is AWESOME I have to say... but that is another topic entirely. I was using my break times at work to do the configuration and what not for the gear and I will warn you... The overall setup is n...

Re: Sena SM10 Transmitter & SMH10 Bluetooth

I just purchased a Sena20s and a Freewire simply to integrate all of my audio and Bluetooth stuff together. I'd like to be able to use my phone, have Bluetooth audio from my phone as well, and also have the connectivity to satellite radio on the Goldwing altogether in one nice neat package. Up until...

Nope... didn't make it to the dealer today. Nothing turned out as planned. Will definitely be getting in there Tuesday though.

I have never plugged a thumb drive in there. Didn't know it would read like that. Hmmmmm.Something to try for sure. Thanks for that suggestion.

Radio issues with USB

I am starting to have issues with my USB port on my radio. I used to be able to run my iPod touch or iPhone 5s. Then all of a sudden, it won't connect with either. Shows the USB icon on the dash but does not register whatever is connected to the cable and doesn't charge the device. The radio sends a...

Darkside Tire Options

I was running a Michelin Primacy Alpin on my bike awhile back before it took a gnarly nail that split a band. I went back to a Dunflop M/C tire and that thing is just squirly from the beginning. I was looking at putting another Primacy back on there and they don't make them anymore. Anyone out there...

Re: Wrecked it... dang near killed it!

So... an update! I met with the estimator and the thing was basically totalled on its own but with some dinkin around on the parts and the labor, he got it down to a manageable level with me doing "some" of the work. In reality, I am going to do all the labor and pay a buddy at work in the body shop...

Re: The "had to lay 'er down" myth debunked

In my riding history, I have had a couple of pants crapper moments on a couple different kinds of bikes and with the exception of this last road kill session on the Wing, I don't think I could have forcibly/intentionally put it down. The reality is that your spinning wheels don't want to go down... ...

Re: Those that went to 1800 from 1500

These comments are fine and dandy, but did anyone actually go from a 1500 to an 1800? Did you regret it or embrace it? I went from an '89 1500 to a 2012 1800 and don't regret a single moment bit of that decision. The 1500 was fine but it was carburated. The 1800 is a way better bike in my humble op...

Wrecked it... dang near killed it!

I hit a patch of ice this morning in a corner and it was game over. The ass end went right out from under me at 35 MPH and there was no way I could recover it. The bike low sided and I slowed down from the contact on the pavement but the Wing didn't. I got to watch it slide another 40 feet and get e...
