Re: Michigan Road Trip - June/ Suggestions?

Stop by and see the Sleeping Bear sand dunes. Biggest sand box in the Midwest. Don't pass by all the fudge shops near Mackinaw. Stop by and satisfy your sweet tooth. Traverse City has some nice craft beers as does Elk Rapids and Petosky. All are on US 31 on the way to the Tunnel of Trees.

Thanks for the link, unfortunately I will not have the cash to buy before tax season, no matter how good the deal may be.

There are a lot of nice 1800s for sale on that site. A lot of members there are buying the 2018.

Re: Upgrading next tax season

Ok, I am going to most likely be selling my current bike, a 1996 Aspencade with 160K on it due to mileage and more importantly, how hard it is to get body panels for it.... My current thoughts are, in my order of preference: 1 first gen GL-1800 2 a fiberglass body VW trike like my old one 3 a 2007 ...

Will plan to arrive on Wednesday afternoon. Looking forward to seeing the whole group from last year plus a few new faces. Hopefully I will be meeting up with others for the ride down. Last year we had Corkster 52, Wingcott, Detdrbuzzard, and myself. Hope we all ride together again.

Re: 1987 Aspencade for sale

Well, my 87 Aspencade found a new home today. I am extremely happy that an owner of a Honda dealership purchased the bike and is going to look it all over, do any needed work (it won't be much), and put it in his private collection. She will get out of the garage for bike shows and Sunday rides. All...

William, plan on weekend of Sept 22nd. I would like to make this a multi-day ride so show up time would be Thursday. Rides on Friday and Saturday. Location should be Athens Ohio. Close to Hocking Hills and WV. While you are at it, pencil in weekend of July 13th for the Upper Peninsula MI ride. Also...

I have ridden the area that you are visiting. It is a very nice ride along the Thumb lake shore. Visit the lighthouse that is east of Port Austin. Albert Sleeper State park in Caseville is a nice stop. Corkster52 and I rode that area the first time we met. Enjoy your visit to Michigan.

The only real "close" calls I have ever had were from the idiots crossing the center line. Probably 6 or 7 times. Most of those have been relatively recent. One actually forced us to the shoulder. More than likely due to the driver suffering from textitis..... Had that very thing happen to me in Se...

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

I just finished watching a documentary on Netflix entitled Road. It is about TT racing in Europe, specifically about Joey and Robert Dunlap. I didn't notice any of the pros riding without full gear. There is a reason for wearing it. I would rather wear it and not need it than need it and not be wear...

Try the Bead Rider beaded seat cover. http://www.beadrider.com/shop/classic-seat-front-seat-only/ I've been using one on each of my Wings for about three years now. Big difference in comfort, especially in hot weather. Woo Hoo, I got a set of bead riders for Christmas. I can't wait to try the bike ...

Happy New Year

As 2017 comes to a close we have much for which to be thankful. If you plan a celebration be careful on the roads. There will be many who will over imbibe and far too many accidents will occur. Have a great 2018 and ride safely.

If you bore it, how do you know ahead of time if you have it centered? Too expensive to find out.

Time for a new wheel.
You use an indicator to find the center of the wheel. It is a simple process.

Re: Is This Rim Trashed?

Hey Brian, your wheel can be repaired. This would be my process for doing it. 1) remove the bearing and bore the wheel hub until it has at least 90% clean up. 2) make a sleeve with an outside diameter with a .001 press fit to the bored hub. 3) the inside diameter of the sleeve should be a .001 press...

don't fool yourself into thinking that the new Goldwing is a sport-tourer, it is not! it is just a lighter Goldwing I ride my ST 1300 way more than my 1500 wing so I know all about having to take less or resort to strapping on a dry bag fuel on a bike the size of a wing, more is better. how many of...

Winter is coming, but not yet!!

Well, it appears that our unseasonably great weather in Michigan is coming to an end. Played golf yesterday in 75 degree temps, took a nice ride on the GW when I got home. It was glorious. This week promises colder temps and rain. Ugh! Still not ready to give up on riding. Cool temps are not not an ...
