Re: 1990 SE Fader Panel Logo / Sticker

Might be possible to find them on ebay used. The headlight knob isn't too expensive and you might like a chrome one. The badge I dunno about.

Re: wings

Wikipedia isn't specific other than motorcycles started getting built there in 1979 and ceased in 2009. Saw another source that said Wings started getting built there in 1981. A shame but maybe inevitable seeing how motorcycle sales hasn't rebound since. I kind of remember Honda sold Goldwings up to...

Re: Replacing bulbs in trunk side lights

There are 4 screws to remove the trunk bottom. It swings down and you can pull it back and away from the bike. Just be careful its a little fiddly removing and installing. Just take your time. 2 bolts hold each side reflector on. Inside the trunk you will see them. When I replaced mine I had to buy ...

Congrats on your new bike. It looks very clean. Coming from a cruiser background you can appreciate goldwings. They are awesome machines.

Re: New GL1500 owner here

What was recommended to me when my bike had some off idle stumble was to add a full can of seafoam to a full tank of fresh gas and run that thru. Then add the regular dose for the next few fill ups. That did the trick for me. Good luck with your bike :D

Re: New GL1500 owner here

Sounds like you have a good plan. Pump out the old gas and fill new fresh. Heavy doses of seafoam might bring the carbs around without having to pull them. Its worth a try.

You can probably find LED replacement bulbs from a bunch of places but I got mine from SuperBrightLEDs.

I changed my speedometer and works perfectly. I'm glad it wasn't the speedometer hub gear! Thanks for the well documented pics as it was great to read before attempting it!
Congrats. Seems like that plastic gear hub is a fail piece so that other parts wouldn't get damaged.

It could be but it could also be other things causing this. Did you recently work on the rear brakes?

Re: Suggestions on pricing to sell

Nice looking rig. Always liked that color and looks like nice personalized touches like the under trunk spoiler and the trailer matches the bike nicely. Without the carb and rear brake issues imho $4,500 bike + $1,500 trailer so $6,000 for the combo. I think a buyer is going to look at this as a coo...

Re: Low RPM sputter

Sounds like maybe the idle circuit could be little gummed up. I had this happen to me in the past when I wasn't able to ride for a short time. What others recommended was to add an entire can of seafoam to the full tank of gas and run that thru then add the recommended about for the new half dozen r...

This happened to me awhile back. I think I lost the left channel. Turned out one of the connectors pushed out the socket plug. It was just random luck that I noticed it while trying to track it down.

Re: Drivers Backrest

NOS marklands pop up occasionally. Was able to buy one for $150 if I recall right. Drag Specialties makes a nice windleader backrest too. I guess my bike had one and it got lost by a dealer or previous owner somewhere along the lines. I have the brackets but no backrest for it. Utopia makes a really...

Re: stubborn oil filter

For stuck filters I've always had the most luck with one of these kinds of wrenches.

Just fold some sandpaper or a sanding disk in half then place it betweel the wrench and filter to give it some bite and it will grab hold really good.

I'm with you guys, the Ram Xmount is really good. My android phone has an Otterbox on the outside so its had rubber grippy stuff and it works terrific with the xmount. Easy on easy off and has never slipped.
