Re: Radio No Signs of Life

If you checked the proper fuses #2-15A, #9- 5A, and #10- 10A and they are all good, remove the radio and disconnect the 18 pin white connector. Test voltage between the green wire(-) and the red/yellow wire (+) and there should be battery voltage at all times. Test voltage between the green wire(-) ...

Re: Trailer Hitch

Thanks for the replies but, I found one 2 hours away in Ocala so, I had a beautiful four hour round trip ride. Got it for $50.00 and also found a good set of OEM mufflers at the same time for $25.00. Now all I have to do is clean and paint the hitch and install it. Thanks again and God Bless, Russel...

Re: Electrical issue

Thanks for your suggestions. The volume button doesn’t push in, it only turns and I have it turned completely off (if the switch is working. Same with the CB, turned completely off. I also tried the push button that switches from speaker to headset. Since it’s random, I don’t know if that solved th...

Re: Trailer Hitch

I just thought I would try to find one first before getting my welding equipment out to fabricate something. If someone had one they didn't need I could buy it and someone else could make a little money and it would be a lot easier than building one myself. I am getting lazy in my old age. LOL but, ...

Trailer Hitch

Being a Patriot Guard Rider and soon to be a Ride Captain, I am looking for a trailer hitch for my 92 GL1500 to use for a flag mount. And being retired and on fixed income I am looking for a really good deal. If anyone has one they don't need I would like to purchase one. I have not found one that i...

Re: What should I watch out for?

If this bile has an OEM stator, (internal alternator) check the vertical connector in front of the battery that has three yellow wires. This connector was a design problem with the 1200s and because it is not a sealed connector, it gets moisture and then collects dirt. This causes corrosion which ca...

Re: Electrics

Another thought, check the connectors under the seat and behind the side covers. Each time you unplug a connector, coat the terminals in that connector with dielectric grease to keep moisture from causing corrosion and resistance in the connector which, can cause many problems. Re: GL1500 turn signal to led

If you change all 4 turn signal lights with LEDs they will hyper-flash so to keep them flashing properly you have to add resistors in the line, (one resistor on each side). But to add resistors still gives a somewhat large draw on the battery/alternator which is the reason I changed to LEDs. I repla...

Re: fuel not getting thru to start engine

Try checking the two connectors on the kill switch. Remove the two screws under the handlebar and remove the switch. These screw connectors have a bad habit of loosening after years and miles of vibration. If these connections become loose you will not have power to fuel pump or ignition. I check th...

Re: Potential Purchase of 1993 low mileage GL1500 Timing belt Question

It's amazing tho, I recently talked to an old school Honda certified motorcycle mechanic that has worked on hundreds if not thousands of Goldwings over 25 years and he said this is all hogwash, lol. Well, if this 'old school' mechanic will guarantee (IN WRITING) that they will not break and that he...

Re: Potential Purchase of 1993 low mileage GL1500 Timing belt Question

At this point I don't think the mileage really matters. Those belts are 25 years old. I would change them ASAP. The fact that he does ride it some would make them OK for a very short time. The age will make them 'break down' a little. They will probably still look new but, they should be changed qui...

Re: Cornering light

I don't like the idea of soldering across the terminals because that is more load on the alternator and battery that the rest of the bile really needs. I think you misunderstood, he is only suggesting shorting the pins on the bulb that has a failed filament so the other filament lights up, there wi...

Re: Tilt sensor Bypassed Permenently ??

If it is still on the road the recall is still active, because this is a safety issue. Have your local dealer check the VIN and if it has not been done they will order the part and fix it for no charge.

If you have a Cycle Gear store near, they will mount and balance a tire for $20.00. At least here in Jacksonville, Florida they will. I have had good success with them for tires. The 88 to 93 models had a Bank Angle Sensor recall so, check the VIN with your local dealer and if it hasn't had the recall done they will order the part and do the recall for free. Without reading 30 pages of posts on the trigger wheel, what is it? Is it like advancing the cam on an engine?
No, it advances the ignition timing.

But, those are not cornering lights. They are turn signals and should have amber light bulbs in them.
The only reason for white lights on the rear of any vehicle is for back-up lamps.

The white plug looks like cornering light connector. And the red plug, I think, is the connector for the headset plug.
I can't say about the green connector unless it is for the CB radio.

Re: re-painting a radiator?

You are correct about putting too much paint on the radiators. It will impede the heat transfer process. Talk to a radiator expert and find out what kind of paint to use.
