Re: Front speaker stopped working

WOW!!! I can't believe that was the problem! I feel kind of dumb that I never read the manual and saw that knob in it. I remember turning that when I was shining up the plastic the other day. and problem solved! thanks so much curt! You probably won't find that in the manual because the fader is an...

Re: Starter problems

Sounds like one of your starter solenoids is defective if you have no power to the starter. The solenoids send battery power to the starter.

Re: Bike turns over, BUT won't start

Try removing the kill switch, two screws underneath, and check the two screw connectors. Years and miles of vibration at the handlebar can cause these connectors to loosen. Then you won't have fuel or ignition. This happened to me on the road and had to be towed home. After some checking of the shop...

Re: So got it running

Sure sounds like no oil pressure to the valve lifters to properly work the valves. Did you do any other work to the engine at the same time you replaced the timing belts? Are you ABSOLUTELY sure the timing belts are timed right? Drain the oil and forget to fill the crankcase? Head gaskets and forget...

Re: Left Side Battery Cover Anyone???

I know this post is old, but I was wondering if you are still making replicas? eBay is ridiculous! I think everyone lost their left covers at some point! I agree about ebay. I watched ebay for about two years for a left side cover and finally found one that I bought for $33.00 and free shipping. Mo...

Are you sure that the clutch is fully releasing? Can you put it in gear (with the engine off), pull the clutch and roll the bike? If not, the clutch may be stuck and kills the engine when you try to put it in gear. Russell Those who say it cannot be done should try not to interrupt those who are doi...

Look up both bikes on partzilla.com and match up the part numbers. That will tell you if they are the same.

On the underside of your gas fill door you should see the paint color codes and some of the automotive paint stores can get you the proper color.

Re: Blackwing Fork brace Installtion

Check the four bolts that hold your fork tubes in the triple tree. I had a little wobble when taking off from my driveway and found that two of those bolts were not very tight. After torquing the bolts properly, that feeling went away. I don't have a super or blackwing brace yet, (one thing at a tim...

If you checked the proper fuses #2-15A, #9- 5A, and #10- 10A and they are all good, remove the radio and disconnect the 18 pin white connector. Thanks for the replies but, I found one 2 hours away in Ocala so, I had a beautiful four hour round trip ride. Got it for $50.00 and also found a good set of OEM mufflers at the same time for $25.00. Now all I have to do is clean and paint the hitch and install it. Thanks again and God Bless, Russel...

I just thought I would try to find one first before getting my welding equipment out to fabricate something. Trailer Hitch

Being a Patriot Guard Rider and soon to be a Ride Captain, I am looking for a trailer hitch for my 92 GL1500 to use for a flag mount. Re: What should I watch out for?

If this bile has an OEM stator, (internal alternator) check the vertical connector in front of the battery that has three yellow wires. This connector was a design problem with the 1200s and because it is not a sealed connector, it gets moisture and then collects dirt. This causes corrosion which ca...

Another thought, check the connectors under the seat and behind the side covers. Each time you unplug a connector, coat the terminals in that connector with dielectric grease to keep moisture from causing corrosion and resistance in the connector which, can cause many problems. Re: GL1500 turn signal to led

If you change all 4 turn signal lights with LEDs they will hyper-flash so to keep them flashing properly you have to add resistors in the line, (one resistor on each side). But to add resistors still gives a somewhat large draw on the battery/alternator which is the reason I changed to LEDs. I repla...

Try checking the two connectors on the kill switch. Remove the two screws under the handlebar and remove the switch. Re: Potential Purchase of 1993 low mileage GL1500 Timing belt Question

At this point I don't think the mileage really matters. Those belts are 25 years old. I would change them ASAP. The fact that he does ride it some would make them OK for a very short time. The age will make them 'break down' a little. They will probably still look new but, they should be changed qui...

If it is still on the road the recall is still active, because this is a safety issue. Have your local dealer check the VIN and if it has not been done they will order the part and fix it for no charge.
