Re: Winter projects

I just ordered up some hydrographic activstor and several rolls of film, going to remove some heat applied carbon fiber wrap i did on my 93 gl1500 several years ago and will dip them and clear coat. Will have to get a tub, or use one inside my hot tub so its heated.

Re: Goldwing electric motor conversion

Put the batteries in a trailer? I would first consider a way to make it a hybrid, get up to highway speed and use the electrics, say off hand making the front disc rotors with either cut geared teeth or to use a cogged belt and mount the electric motors on the forks, both sides. Maybe a heavy duty D...

Re: The brand-new 2018 Goldwing?

Since the election went quite differently i suspect a LOT of talk has been going on at Honda. I bet they might reopen the plant in America as well to reduce any tariffs plus to take advantage of hiring US workers or other incentives. Its all about jobs and being Made in the USA for the foreseeable f...

Re: The 2017 Goldwing is Out!

I have never had success with an odd year vehicle, they always turn bad. Maybe Honda should only release models every other even year?

I'm on the cusp of buying a new, yes brand new bike, so far it looks like it may very well be an Indian as soon as i drive down to Washington from Alaska this winter.

Re: Seven decades the sweetheart of British singers

I had no idea she was still performing, and to sold out concerts! Talk about beauty and still that angelic voice. I swear its on my "must do" list to see one of her concerts in 2017 even if it means flying to England. Perhaps she may consider a US tour, who knows? I fell in love with her oh so many ...

New SUV for my bike trailer.

For several years i have been using my 2002 Silverado dually with a converted snowmachine trailer to pick up project bikes here in Alaska, but the truck is a hungry beast to feed with its 8.1 gas motor, i had a 99 GMC Envoy but its a tad small, sold it to my son, the wife got a 2012 Equinox so its n...

Re: 2016 wing

I would dearly love to have a new Goldwing, though i have 2 custom gl1500 bikes they are still older bikes, but after reading several years worth of gl1800 comments i have held off buying one, and if its true maybe the next model up will be my next new bike, i'm just leery, last time i bought a new ...

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings

I dropped my 89 Venture Royal when i put the kickstand in a soft sandy hole, took three people to get it back up, it has a v4 engine, just that small amount of weight up higher than a boxer type motor was the difference.

Re: Questions regarding "older" men and Goldwings

I'm 59, not a big guy by biker standards but at 220 pounds 5'10" and moderately fit I can handle the GL1500 with no problem, even with another person near my weight on back, but not in the city, it does get tiresome. As a multi bike owner of bikes from the 80 CX500 on up to my recent 85 Vmax i can s...

Re: Australia trip dec-jan 2016

It was a trip of a lifetime, i say that cause you could not drag me screaming to Europe or any non english country. My regards to any of our friends there but it was hard enough trying to understand the woman in Oz, they really get the strine out.

Its a shame i'm 59, its a land for the young.

Re: Australia trip dec-jan 2016

I talked to Dave, he lives in Taplan, he offered to loan me one of his bikes but the unusually hot weather combined with my back problems told me i just could not safely ride, before i even left Alaska i bought a pair of helmets on the Aus ebay site and had them shipped to him, never got the chance ...

Re: Australia trip dec-jan 2016

Unless i am misinformed i was informed that our DOT or SNELL approved helmets may not be Oz approved, they have a specific sticker both in and outside, called a 6 tic or 1698 rating, 6 tic is 6 checkmarks rated. So i bought two on my ebay aus account and they are being shipped to a friend in Oz. I d...

Hello friends, sorry i have not been here more often, as some of you know me on another forum i lost my back seat partner in july of 2014. We had dreams of leaving Alaska and taking a tour to Australia with plans of a permanent nature as our Goldwing restoration business was too limited in Alaska an...

I am worried just how fast will i adapt to driving on the left side, coming up in december i am flying from Alaska to Hawaii, then from there to Sydney Australia, a short hop then to Adelaide where i will need to rent a car and drive less than 20 miles to a vacation rental home. Possibly i may be ri...

On the left my 95, has 136,000 miles, on the right my 93 with 54,000 miles, just finished a full restoration, it was a totaled wreck bought back from the insurance lot. Spent the winter rebuilding it, its a tribute bike for a friend who passed away last year.

I went riding with my gf last july up here in Alaska, we were on the 95 Goldwing, it has dual 55 watt hid for the mains and a pair of 35 watt hid kits i put in the corner lights, we had to wait until after 1 am as it was still light out at midnite here in Alaska, so its dark enough from 1 to 4 am th...
