Not sure..My 78 had a kick starter.
Then either your engine was changed or you didn't have a 78.

Unless someone added it.

Re: Turn Signal Beeper

If you still have the original wired in there are three wires going to it. One from each front signal and a ground. Using the oem wires will not enable the silent feature. Not hard to figure out, but if you aren't sure you can make the connections at the rear signal wires under the seat and you are...

Re: Turn Signal Beeper

My GL1000 was the first bike I had seen with this feature and found it to be very convenient and safe. So safe I replaced the one on my GL1000 and made a kit to add to any bike. I have added one of these to every bike I have and continually get comments about it. I have sold nearly 100 of these ove...

Re: Turn Signal Beeper

Has anyone found an alternative to the turn signal beeper? I like the idea of some kind of alert to remind you to turn off the signal, but I'm not real fond of the squealing noise that the stock item makes. I know some automobile signals make a clicking sound as a reminder. Has anyone made such a s...

I have only heard of 16” and 18” wheels from Lester. It seems I recall a recent post of a different maker who offered a 17”.
Fronts are 19"as I recall.

Re: Brake reservoir

This is good to know, I’ve not taken it off the bike yet , will remove it tonite to have a closer look. I’ve not been able to find the reservoir for the rear brake master cylinder. I found one for the front which has the same issue, but not the rear. Only place I’ve not checked is the Honda dealer....

Re: Brake reservoir

Desert region here , average 8” annual persipitation . LOTS of sun! My bike has had the side cover missing for sometime. This left the plastic reservoir ( which is incorporated into the master cylinder “sun rotted” or “sun baked” would be another term. The intensity of the sunlight Literally rots p...

Re: Brake reservoir

79 Goldwing; Rear brake reservoir is sun rotted, eBay wants big bucks for a rebuildable core,,,, I’ve seen generic aftermarket master cylinders, with a hose connecting the reservoir to the MC. The mounting brackets would be different, ( not a big deal), otherwise they should work ????? Anyone with ...

I am looking for the less obvious reasons for a high speed wobble on my '75 GL1000. I have done a swingarm bearing upgrade using needle thrust bearings and seals I got from Randakk. I also have upgraded the forks & brakes using modified GL1200 triple trees & CBR600 F2 cartridge forks & brakes, alon...

Re: coolant water in 75 GL1000

Odd problem with coolant water. It seems to be contaminated with something. It is grey an it's not oil. I flushed it and put in fresh tap water while I've been doing the carbs and restoring the bike to original naked bike from one that had a faring. it was dirty and the wires were messed up. I have...

Gl1000, 1100 and 1200 are the same.

They are $3.99 from Napa
5.49 from Honda
2.30 from Rock Auto. FEL-PRO 60567

If you can bring the tyres into the house 24 hours before you want to fit them, tubeless tyres do have stiffer sidewalls than tubed tyres, but if you get them warm they go on much easier. Keeping them in the house for 24 hours usually makes them warm enough to get on easily.. :D Gary Hence the "fir...

Re: Help with Tire Selection and What is Available

Just a follow up. I went with the Shinko tires 100-90-19 front, 130-90-17 rear. They are V rated. They look like decent tires and I like the tread pattern. There are some other tires out there but some of them are not rated or recommended for heavy loads (bikes). They showed up today. It will be fu...

Re: Help with Tire Selection and What is Available

Al, I have a '78 GL. I had run Bridgestone Spitfire II tires for years, but now they're difficult to impossible to obtain. So I had to go on the hunt for an alternative. I ended up ordering and receiving a pair of Shinko 230 Tourmaster tires. They've been getting very good reviews, and are priced r...
