Re: starter system on 1078 wing

Trying to start a 1976 GL1000. The battery is new . When I hit the starter it whips right over the first time but then if I hit the button again I get a kind of buzz and nothing else. Turn the key off and wait a little and try again and the same thing happens, I can hear and feel the solenoid click...

Re: 78 Gl1000 Lighting Problems

How can I tell if it used to have a fairing? I’ve discovered a lot of shotty maintenance that was done to it a few owners back so it wouldn’t surprise me if they mucked up the wiring. Supposedly the tail lights worked before I bought it though so I’m hoping it’ll be something easier. You should gra...

Re: 78 Gl1000 Lighting Problems

Hi Guys, So I've been trying to get the taillight working on my '78 Gl1000 to no avail. The instrument lighting doesn't work either. I'm going to run you all through my observations and what I've found in case it clicks with anyone. The light works when the bike is in Park. It's an LED tail light t...

Re: 1976 Gold wing Carbs

Hi guys , thanks for the advice on the carbs on my Sulphur yellow 1976 GL1000. 44,000 Miles. I've also got gates belts on the way. What's the best place for upper and lower rad hoses and where do you get your thermostats at. Thanks and I enjoy the learning experience from all the wealth of your exp...

Re: Verifying GL1000 year of correct manufactured with Glass & Honda UK

It would be good enough for me, but the DVLA are a law unto themselves. A good example being a friend of mine who restored a Kawasaki W650 last year. It was imported into the UK in 1975 and never registered here. This model was only made in 1967 so, when he applied for an age-related registration n...

Re: Verifying GL1000 year of correct manufactured with Glass & Honda UK

Shammon, are you a member of the VJMC (vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club)? They offer a very good dating service for members. The dating officer knows what he is doing and where to get the information required by the DVLA to get an age-related registration number. Maz Why do they make people jump th...

Could someone attach a picture of one of their keys, so I can know what the blank looks like
I also included the ignition key so you can see it's about half the size.

I've looked for years for someone to duplicate these.

Re: Looking for referral -> Carborator Repair/ Rebuilding

Carbs have been sent to Mike Nixon in AZ... he quoted me what his web-site says... $495 to rebuild the carb + $25 to polish the manifolds + Shipping! Take a look at the pictures... Mike's only e-mailed me two pics but I'm already amazed just looking at clean parts! Now I just need to find someone l...

Re: Replacing 76 GL1000 coils with 77 GL1000 coils

Well, I installed the ignition coils from the 77 GL1000 on the 76 GL1000 and it seems to be running fine. This 76 GL1000 has an electronic ignition and points I believe. Here's a photo of the "A.R.C. Ignition System" box that was attached to the original 76 GL1000 coils. Hopefully, it will continue...

Re: Hondaline luggage keys

The are the actual hondaline hard luggage. Samsonite style, but not Samsonite, I have seen those also. My lock number is 431, but my locksmith cannot find what blank fits it. I was hoping someone had the blank number so my locksmith can cross-reference it, or order it. This style https://www.ebay.c...

Hello everyone, first post to the forum! Does anyone have an ILCO key blank number for the Hondaline luggage. I have the 3 tumbler lock. WingAdmin » Wed Oct 18, 2017 6:52 pm Without question the best way to effect repairs on ABS bodywork is by using more ABS, and ABS cement (MEK). Bonding the new plastic to the old makes the two pieces of ABS (old and new) chemically the same piece - it's not two pieces of plastic glued together, it...

Re: Which lift to buy?

For ease of use, storage, lift height and easy access to the bike when it is on the jack, get a J&S Jack. I have a Pit Bull jack but if I had seen this video several years ago, I would have bought a J&S jack instead. A platform lift would be ideal but I just do not have the room for one. Take a loo...

That's why I'm curious as to what tires everyone with an early GL1000 is using, and searching for suggestions. Yet they are still widely sold. Wonder about the 5 year rule as they stopp...

I found a picture of the one a friend made... This was used just yesterday for a group "maint...

Re: Which lift to buy?

HF may be my best bet. I’m going to check Craigslist for about a month and watch HF one to see when it may go on sale. Ya it's currently $429 but was on sale a few weeks ago for $329 and 2 months ago it was on sale for $289. They do these sales all the time so the longer you can wait the more $$ yo...

I am tired of doing maintenance laying on the ground eveytime I need to do something on my bike. I am looking at buying a lift. Can I get some recommendations about a regular lift vs. table lift? I would love to get both but the budget won’t allow that. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks. You...

Re: GL1000 Plastics restoration

I have a 76' GL1000 that im trying to restore. One key part of making the bike look great is the plastics. Currently, I am a novice when it comes to plastics.
