Re: windshield options

In response to NVSB4, I just replaced a tinted Tulsa Tall (Ex-Tall?) windshield that was tinted and I had to look through it. I bought this bike a little over 4 years ago and the screen was pretty scratched up. I put up with until this summer. I went with a clear one. I didn't like the tinted becaus...

Re: windshield options

The first windshield I was sent was marked for a GL1500 as well as the packing slip. Upon opening the box it was immediately clear it was for a GL1800. It did include those Velcro strips. A quick exchange after a call to Cycle Max, the correct windshield showed up. There are no strips that get insta...

Re: windshield options

Ok, I waited to replace my windshield until a couple of weeks ago. Right or wrong I opted for the F4. Now I've got an interesting squeak. It's between the windshield and the rubber boot, right in the middle. I can stop it with one finger on top of the windshield but that gets awkward after a few mil...

Re: Kudos to Wingstuff/Cycle Giant!

I too, like WingStuff. I either get Mark or Rodney. Both are excellent with customer service. I've bought from them in the past, very satisfied and have been in dire need of a new windshield. After asking for comments on this forum I decided on an F4 Custom +2, clear with an installed vent for my '9...

Re: So ticked off right now. . .

Hey Uncle Fester, when I was working on mine a few weeks back I broke off a tab that the fairing side marker lights screw into. I used JB Weld, Plastic Weld. After 24 hrs. it was quite set. From your picture I would imagine you'd be able to use that in your situation as well. It's a little work taki...

Re: Trunk door hinge repair

Thanks guys. That helps quite a bit. I'm going to try a brass piece, JB Welded and see how it goes. That's an impressive repair from Mh434 though. I'll probably give in and add a couple of Rudy's Keeps. I don't want to replace those little doors unless I really need to. I've seen enough Wings missin...

Trunk door hinge repair

Does anyone have a suggestion as how to repair the little hinges where the trunk doors are attached on the front of the trunk? Those little posts are pretty brittle and were broken from a previous owner. I'd like to be able do something to repair those and not risk losing those doors (without adding...

Re: How to replace your cruise and sub air filters

I forgot to mention new Amsoil in the rear differential. Boy that old stuff was black, thick, not much of it, stunk to high someplace and the old girl sounds better.

Re: How to replace your cruise and sub air filters

Wingadmin you're a great help. Yesterday was a Super Brace. A couple of weeks ago was air and fuel filters but of all things I forgot to replace the sub and cruise air filters! Those got it today. I wouldn't have known about them or how to change them without this forum. Thank you, the pictures are ...

Re: Super-Brace

I just installed a Super Brace on my '96 SE today. Went for a short test ride, about a 1/2 hr., 20 or so miles and it seems to have tightened things up. I guess I didn't know I had a problem until it was gone!

Re: 96SE passenger floor boards don't adjust

Thanks WingAdmin and Uncle Fester. Good advise from both of you. I may as well do the throttle cables while I'm at it. I like this bike so I had better take care of it!

Re: 96SE passenger floor boards don't adjust

Thanks virgilmobile, the downward pressure help release them. A little stiff, I'm guessing from lack of use. The previous owner was a solo rider so I'm sure they hadn't been used for a long time, if ever. I'll need to lube those cables for sure.

96SE passenger floor boards don't adjust

Does anyone have an idea as to why my passenger floor boards don't adjust? The lever under the RR speaker doesn't move. I've had the seat off but cannot seem to find the problem. I can see the cables clearly but cannot find what is binding. Could it be the actual lever mechanism?
Thanks

windshield options

I'm needing to replace my 96 GL1500 SE windshield. Any suggestions or thoughts between National Cycles v Stream vs. Optic armor windows? Present shield is a tinted, vented +4 model. I prefer a clear standard height with vent. Suggestions please.
