Looking for 84 1200 Rear Wheel

A friend of mine is looking for the rear wheel on his 1200. See if anyone has one.

License Plates

I need to find someone from Rhode Island or South Carolina. I have been collecting car license plates from each state for about a year or so and still need those states. Maybe someone here is from there. Look at the hole in my wall.

Dang John, Mr. James is very talented. My favorite is the Pecan Turkey. Don't know how he did it but it is beautiful.

As for the tag, not going to be me. The Gold Witch is in hibernation.

Amp Control Settings

I recently put in a new stereo head unit and am now going to install an amp to boost things. I have a Kenwood KAC-M3004 amp, 600 watts. I had, in full disclosure, almost ruined the thing a while back when the battery lead touched the negative and pretty much burned all the wires in what I thought mi...

That is looking real good! Above the headlights though, is that really necessary to objectify... okay my wife just left the room, looks great! :D

This may have been the first time I've ever seen objectify used in a sentence.

Re: After market seats or saddle

I looked at the Daylong S-3 prices. Over $800 for the deluxe leather. One had better like that seat. I mean obsession kind of like. I had a Mustang that I bought for a V-Star I had a few years ago and it was around $500. I prayed that I would like it when I ordered it. Thank goodness it was a big im...

Re: What can you do when the old radio doesn't work anymore

That is one of the coolest things I've ever seen anyone do on one of these old wings. I thought that I was going out on a limb cutting up the right fairing lid to put a radio in mine. Hell, you destroyed the tank cover. Well, I think I'll just cut this hole bigger and put a TV in there" Beautiful.

Pretty sure that there is an 1100 service manual here. If you can't find it PM me and I will email mine along with some other 1100 stuff.

Re: New to me GL1500SE, so much good info here!

I enjoy the "insignificant" details. Helps everybody. I like chrome myself and have put a couple of pieces on, but it can easily go too far and I hate anything that will blind me with glare in the daytime. I have a piece of console chrome in my car that does that. I wish that when I had my motor out...

I really wish I had the room for a lift. Too big for the garage and there is no way I could lug it around to store somewhere else.

Re: GL1100 head gasket replacement

Rbgershon's advise is spot on about the heads being flat. It was a bit expensive but I took mine to a machine shop and they milled the heads flat. About $80. Great piece of mind since I read several posts about the heads still leaking after new ones were installed just due to warped, or un-flat head...

I'm kinda following along here and just want to make sure of what your problem is. I have attached this pic. Thermostat.gif Number 11 is the thermostat switch assembly and I had one of these fail on my 82. Unfortunately when it did the bike got too hot and I ended up having to replace the head gaske...

Re: New to GoldwingDocs withan 83 GL1100A Aspencade

WTF???? so the rear master cylinder controls both a front and rear brake? Who thought of this? Does everyone leave it stock or what? Yep, the 83 1100s came with an integrated brake system that works off the foot petal. That controls the rear and one of the front calipers (the right side I believe),...

Here is kind of a dark picture of those exhaust pipes. There is black background with the chrome cover and it really looks good. Different from most any other exhaust.

Re: "New" Ride

Actually, yes it does. The '99 is mechanically sound but it is somewhat cosmetically challenged. I knew the bike had been dropped, but what I didn't know is portions of the tupperware support structure are deformed to the extent that some attachment points are off enough to cause mounting tabs to f...

I rode today to listen to my new stereo. Cranked it up and listened to Gerry Rafferty at 45 degrees. Got some numb fingers but still a good ride.

Re: size of 1500 screw

If all else fails and you continue to strip the screw, even using an impact driver, you could try using a dremel and cutting wheel to make a flat head indentation to get it out. I've had to do it several times.

The pipes look fine but I wish you had the OEMs. They are so cool.

Re: How cold will ya'll ride?

Me and my Wing (sounds like a tune) made it to -17*F about 5 years ago. No elec. heat, just good clothing. In that low temp. a few oz. of MMO thins it a little for easy starting. I also used a propane torch on the oil pan. Tires were STIFF!!! so I rode several miles cautiously until they warmed up ...
