Re: regarding grip and seat heater

thanks Greg i keep the pressure at 41, the tire is not cupping, and i was hoping not to have to bite on steering bearings. the vtx 1300's had the same problem. i didn't do enough research on the wing, and this issue, trying to figure out what choice of grips to use, especially with heated grips. i'...

Re: throttle stop screw setting

The manual is a little vague on it and I don't have a bike to look at but from what the manual says it appears to be the same thing. There is a synch screw also.

Re: throttle stop screw setting

I guess you don't have the LTD/SEI supplement. Yes the throttle stop screw is used to adjust the idle. On most fuel injected engines the throttle stop is a "don't mess with this" item.

Re: timming

Why would you think it would go together different than it came a part? If you will notice while the heads are off, with the T1 mark showing both 1&2 pistons are at the top of the bore, that's what it means. If you turn it to T2 #3&4 are at the top, you could put it together like that but you would ...

Re: head gasket job

DO NOT start it without oil in it, you can start it for a short while without the radiator but I wouldn't run it more than 1/2 minute like that. You can leave the timing covers off permanently if you want but I wouldn't recommend it.

I also got the Progressive rear shock spring but have been having a hard time finding a "How to" for the shock removal. It looks like a lot of tupperware removal to get access... You can remove the rear shock without removing the gas tank, just the seat and unbolt the right saddlebag and pull it ou...

Really! What lead you to this conclusion??
Have you ever seen the video of beads in a bottle spinning on a drill??
Yes I have seen that video but I have also tried to balance a tire on a computer balancer with them in it, it won't balance.

Re: 84 engine in a 86 Aspencade

Unbolting and bolting back mostly. The big difference is the PGs are on the back of the 84 engine but the harness should reach to plug into the ignition module, if not you will have to extend the wires.

You didn't mention but does it do that only with the trailer connected? Has it had a conversion to make the turn signals also work as brake lights?

none of that stuff is needed on the 1500 and 1800 bikes.
Provided you have LED trailer lights. Probably fine with incandescent bulbs until the bike gets some years on it.

Re: Fork Seal Replacement Issue

Sometimes there is more friction in the threads than there is in the piston it screws into and you get that problem. Honda says use loctite on the threads but that is a bad idea. And yes an electric or air impact helps. Usually helps to have the spring installed when removing the bolt. That is an 8x...

You will read that Dyna Beads won't work, that is true, and false.
I read an article that says they won't work but they put a tire with beads in it on a computer spin balancer to come to that conclusion, which won't work. The tire has to be rolling on a road surface for it to work.

Re: 2nd Gen Trailer wiring harness stays Lit

If you are sure it's wired right, I believe those harnesses have a key off hot wire (red), you could have connected the tail lights to it. That harness is supposed to be connected to B+ so if it has power on the tail light wire (brown probably) the unit is defective. Someone else had that problem an...

They have been rebuilt and synced. All new jets and O rings, gaskets. If those jets were aftermarket you may need to put the originals back in. I remember having one doing that though, the spring in the air cut off valve was too weak causing it to stay open. Try plugging the vacuum hose to the top o...

Running issues at low speed an idling. Idle in not returning to 1000 rpm but going up to 3000 an running rough at low speed.
OK, stuck slides will not cause an idle issue. Your carbs probably need to be synched.

I get no rpm’s when I let off the throttle with the clutch in.

Does that mean the engine dies? Have you checked the fuel filter? Have you tried loosening the gas cap?

I had my shifter pivot suddenly start binding once, caused exactly that problem. Had to remove it, clean it up and grease it. You have to remove the front lower cowl and the right exhaust cover.

* the other problem, the one I have not even begun to figure out, is that in about 30 seconds of running the engine, all the antifreeze I put into it is now in the exhaust. How in the world did that happen? Did I miss an o-ring somewhere? The oil looks fine, so WTF ?!?! Probably when that valve bro...
