Re: fuel not getting thru to start engine

Some later years of the 1500 will not operate the starter with the kill switch in the off position. I believe the 97 is one of them. I think it was from 1997-2000 the kill switch being off would not let the starter work either. His is a 94 model and they would run the starter even if the kill switc...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

So the plot thickens. Apparently most shops don't want to mount tires they don't sell. If the do they want $50 per tire. So new plan. Changing them myself and using Dyna beads. So I went from riding it in to a shop and waiting for it to doing 100% of the work myself. Clearly I'm fickle :) It's clea...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

I do all my own work on the motorcycle, partly out of necessity because dealers don't like to work on bikes over 10 years old, but mostly because the dealers usually screw something up while doing the work or do a poor job of it. Also I just hate to pay someone to do something that I can do myself. ...

Re: 1st Time Goldwing Owner

That hose on the lower front side of the air cleaner housing will cause a heck of a lot of noise when it gets left loose. It doesn't hurt the running of the bike but it sure does cause an irritating noise. It is kind of hard to get it connected back also. It is a real bear to get connected back up u...

Re: Tilt sensor Bypassed Permenently ??

How many people have there Tilt sensor Bypass permanently ??, i recently purchased a 91 SE, keep thinking i would be in the middle of no where when the sensor malfunctions and i have to diagnose it on the side of the road. I am wondering why you would be concerned about the BAS malfunctioning. Have...

Re: Finally... A summation of what I have learned

I knew I had seen that method posted somewhere before but couldn't remember where it was. I was pretty sure it wasn't in the service manual though. It does seem that the Honda service manual would make some mention of a pressure test or give some specs on the fuel pump.

Re: Finally... A summation of what I have learned

The manual states that on the fuel pump test, that you must give it a head pressure of 3 ft minimum on the flow test... and that it must flow the minimum volume with the head pressure against the output port. John, which manual did you find that in? The one I have, a digital version from this site,...

Re: best tire that has long life and best ride

Another possibility in a motorcycle tire would be the Avon Cobra. It is a good tire I have been using. They run quiet with good traction. It is a little higher load rating than the Elite 4 (1019 lbs vs 992 lbs for the E4).

Re: Dual Rear Air Shock???

What problem with the ride are you trying to correct? I find the stock suspension to be quite comfortable. Maybe you have some defective components on yours. Quite a few folks have installed Progressive rear shocks on the 1500 and report they do very well. They are kind of pricey though.

All good points, thanks for the input, now can any of you help me find a CB to radio harness so I can complete my upgrade of my 93 1500A. Re: re-painting a radiator?

I think I would use a pressure washer from the back side of the radiators and try to wash the debris out the front side. Don't get the wand too close to the fins though because they are easily bent or damaged. Then spray a light coat of paint on them.

I don't know, they might be. This thread is about the steering stem bearings. The OP asked about what type grease to use on them.

Here is what WingAdmin had to say about the grease he uses. As for grease type, I like to use a white lithium grease, GC-LB type. I think I currently have Mobil grease in my garage, although there are several excellent greases made by different manufacturers. Look for a label like this: Grease label...

That you-tube video reminded me of a demo I saw at a rod run one time. He had a machine like that and was testing various types of oil and additives. Mainly he was extolling the virtues of Slick 50. It acted much the same way as the Best Line that guy was testing. My guess is that stuff would not be...

I read in one of the forums where a guy had his dynoed and the dyno operator said his put out about 7 more hp at the wheel than any other 1500 he had tested. The reading was 84 hp as I recall. Re: Multi meter help please

You need to be measuring the side going toward the pulse generators. They are behind the timing belt covers and the connector you pulled out is where to measure from. Try to put the meter probes in from the back side of the connector and not push into the pins where they plug into the other side. Yo...
