Re: Project: 1984 Aspencade (GL1200) Revival

The 2 "drivers" I use for the bushing and seal is; bushing, 1.5" pvc with a circ. saw blade width, cut out length wise. Spread pipe to fit tube and drive bushing into place; seal, use a 1.25" pvc coupling (next to seal) and a length of 2" pipe for driver. The "cream" you have would indicate coolant ...

Re: Question on 1986 Se-i (Long Post)

The FI bikes don't use the units the Aspy do. The FI bikes use one, from the pictures I've seen. Should be able to search the forum and find the info. Search Se-i and LTD, that's the FI bikes. Maybe someone has the info tagged?

Not sure who you're dealing with, but Western Honda, Bike Bandit and Partzilla all show it's available.............
Also the search for that part number had several ebay vendors, with pictures of Honda packaged parts!

Mine has the micro cracks, they appear to be in the contrast color of the main color. Might be due to they're cracks in the decals that were placed and then cleared over/ I've not noticed the cracks in the base color.

Could be water pump.......as suggested the cold may have induced this. Try to look straight up from the puddle, might find a hanging drip.

Re: Project: 1984 Aspencade (GL1200) Revival

How are you keeping the assembly from turning, it almost looks like the cap is dragging on what's below it?

Just removed mine, left it in the triple trees till cap was loose. Torque should be 16 ft./lbs.

Good luck :)

The image with the fan; that is an added wire, probably going to an added switch to manually run the fan.

If you look at the last picture you posted, showing wires exiting the tree. Those clear(ish) covers just poking out are the plugs.

Re: Project: 1984 Aspencade (GL1200) Revival

Regarding the oil leaking out....if you have the fork cap on, it might be leaking out the cap 'o' ring, if not then new seals and dust caps. I'm in the process of refurbing mine after 65k miles and one dust/seal change. The dust seals were all cracked/split. Wonder if Honda is selling (at the time) ...

This kind of service has occurred to me also, take bike in to get things taken care of & later figure out they weren't done. Talking with others in the bike service business, they all used to work for dealerships so....., these kind of practices are encouraged by the management, to make more money. ...

Re: 85 gl 1200 aspencade CB / Intercom help

Looking at your sig line, the Aspencade models will come with everything needed to communicate between helmets (except lower cords and helmets), the CB is an option. I don't have a cb on mine, so not a lot of help there, other than you have to have an antenna for it to hear others, it won't receive ...

SNIP Will inspect timing belts after that and down the road if all is well I will surely replace. SNIP Jimmy Unless you know exactly when the belts were changed, you're taking a risk by not changing. A very trusted mechanic told me that the rule of thumb for him is 70,000 miles or 7 years for chang...

If you haven't changed the engine oil, start there. Add about 1/2 quart ATF with this change. Previous suggestions are good. Had this happen once on a trip, got the plates to separate by going down hill and repeatedly engaging and releasing the clutch. Found the problem after I got home, the oil was...

Re: Progressive 416 shocks

Sorry I don't know, mine came with the kit. Suggest talking to Progressive or someone once advised going to a 'large truck' repair place as they use these type hoses. I don't know if it is true or not. If you can think of some place that deals in air suspension work, they should be a source.
