Re: 2nd Gen. Differences

the seat is a bit lower, the bags have changed shape, but still pretty much hold as much as Gen I. I prefer the looks of the Gen 1 over the Gen II bikes, but what the hey, they are almost the same except for some little niggling features. I have a '02 sans the ABS or Air Bag. But can't say that I ha...

Re: "Legs Up" or Reverse Trike

Kapunda is a bit far o'er the water from here in Oklahoma, USA. I too was thinking about the future of my legs, and 2 years ago I managed to buy a set of the original Landing Gear that was made in Louisiana, USA.... they are out of business, Hurricane Katrina washed them right down the drain and the...

Re: Help with Tire Selection and What is Available

Just a follow up. I went with the Shinko tires 100-90-19 front, 130-90-17 rear. They are V rated. They look like decent tires and I like the tread pattern. There are some other tires out there but some of them are not rated or recommended for heavy loads (bikes). They showed up today. It will be fu...

Great stuff if used properly. my dad taught me how to use it back in 1958.... but at the time, the brand name was KopperKote or something like that. K&W owns it now. Amazon has it, should be able to find it in any good auto supply store. https://www.amazon.com/CRC-401612-Copper-Gasket-Compound/dp/B0...

Re: What does every one do for a living?

I've been working for Goodyear tire and rubber as a tirebuilder for the last 8 years. We work 14 out of a 28 day period. I don't think I could work anywhere else because they would want me to show up every day. I've never worked full time and had this much time off, i'm loving it. :D That is even b...

Update to Office type replacements..... they all stink to high heaven. LibreOffice is an "almost look alike" but it is devoid of the special things that I want.... MACROS!!! FreeOffice is a better version, it emulates MS Office and if you don't mind a scrunched screen, it is going to be okay for two...

Re: Engine heaters anyone?

When I lived out in West Texas, and then up in NW Utah, those magnetic block heaters were okay. the ones that stick into the oil work pretty good too. on my '74 Chevy Suburban 454, I bought the radiator hose heater and it worked great. throw a blanket over the engine, plug it in.... at -59* it start...

Re: head gasket job

If you have a steel office ruler, lay it across the head.

If there is any daylight showing you will know that it needs to see a machinist.

or, just ask a machinist to lightly true it up, they do that all the time.
what they take off is extremely small.

Re: Shorty windshield

Thanks for the advise that's a good idea. . I was a bit surprised that the factory adjustment was eliminated but I guess they need the thickness for strength. I have an Optic Armor, it is much thicker than OEM. it is that thickness that stops the adjusters from working, they are not removed, still ...

Spoke to a woman at a riding class that does not wear a helmet. She said a nurse told her they would break your neck in a crash. I didn't want to argue with her but that is justifying a behaviour with a total disregard for the truth. It's convenient so believed. Let her give you some direct proof o...

Re: After market seats or saddle

I owned a '94se and a '98se, and the stock Honda seat for the 97/98 bikes fits me perfectly. I had a Diamond seat on the '94 and gave it away, bought a '97 and fell in love with it. My '98 had the stock OEM seat, matched my butt perfectly, My 2002 came with a Corbin seat, after a few thousand miles,...

the new 2018 was on display at Austin, TX yesterday and Motorcyclist Magazine did a video of it. Best video I have seen yet, several engine examples laid out on tables, with various covers removed. Two frames totally stripped, not parts, on on a stand with only the suspension on it. If you are on Fa...

some of you are talking about the Cornering Light and others about the headlights: the cornering light is the one you solder across the two contacts. that lets the other, smaller filament burn when the brighter one burns out. Cheap skates like to do that.... and the load on the system is slighter le...

Re: 2nd Gen Trailer wiring harness stays Lit

Dave,

the one that I had installed nearly caught fire, Jobe05 caught it before it had time to cause a problem. Andy and I were riding with him near his home when he saw it.

he took that crap out, and wired it straight thru. none of that stuff is needed on the 1500 and 1800 bikes.
