Re: Factory CB Retrofit KISS

From everything that I have read, the wiring harness on all 1500 and 1800 Goldwings includes all of the wiring and connectors. so, all you need is the radio with the appropriate mating connectors on it to plug into the harness. the proof of this was, that the handlebar grips contain the controls for...

Re: WHO HAS EVER DUMPED THEIR WING?

Last Saturday, out on a ride with a friend. I turned the 'wrong way' in a parking lot headed for the street. I was parked next to the curb next to the building, so I had the front wheel to the right, nearly full lock. He yelled at me, "Hey, you can't do that!" I looked back at him, let off the gas, ...

Re: Dunlop Elite 4's

I run 44 in the front E3 right now.
it has about 15,000 miles on it with no cupping or feathering.

the thread is close to the wear markers, got a new tire ready to go when I want to change it.

My rear tire is "off topic", a Michelin 195 CT RF.

Re: A comparison between the 2018 and 2001 GoldWing

A shame. Especially cause it's got a warehouse full of farkles. Farkles are only of value to he who paid for them. My '02 had $4,000 of Kury chrome stuff on it when I bought it, and I got it for $500 below market at a dealership. Local market, not the typical dealer markup prices... other 1800s in ...

as Dave said, 10w30 year around no matter where we live in the lower 48. I used to live in Phoenix, Arizona and worked for the Fire Department. All vehicle service is done at the City of Phoenix mechanical shops. Once there, talking with the Maintenance Supervisor, I asked him why there is only one ...

Re: Is the 1800 any faster ?

both of my 1500s, a 94SE and '98SE would run 115 mph flat out, both had Tulsa Tall windshields. But that is scary for me, and the gas tank range is about 125 miles max. The '98SE I ran at 85 mph all day long once coming through Louisiana heading home to Arizona back in '06.... the mpg dropped to 22 ...

Re: air compressor 'DESICCANT' for my 1984??

the ole oven is the safest way.

just spread it out on a cookie sheet and bake it at 200°F for 30 minutes or until it turns bright pink or is it blue?

https://www.tedpella.com/technote_html/desiccant.pdf

I thought it went blue when wet, been 50 years since I worked with that stuff.

Re: Can beads put a tire out of balance

+5

as long as there is nothing liquid or gooey in the tire, beads are a permanent fix for balance.

easily double the life of a tire... ( my words, works for me )

That's something I've wondered about - pulling a trailer with the new GL1800. I know Big Bike Parts is working on a trailer hitch for it, and I'm sure others are as well. For the six speed GL1800, it should be a non-issue. But when it comes to the DCT...that's another thing. The DCT has to do thing...

John are you serious or are you just HORSING around, LOL no, it was a serious question from my sister who lives in Price, UT and the pony is way up in WetLand, too far for her to just make a casual drive over to see if the seller is a lier, thief, or true gentleman who's word is his bond. a lot of ...

Oh, on the FM/AM radio and also the CB

A short press will activate the function. A loooong press will turn it off.
a quick toggle press will flip flop it from Headphones to Dash Speakers....

and the AVC function on mine actually works.

when I bought my '02 which had 97,500ish miles on it, I just made sure that it was running smoothly, that all the functions were working, rode it around the dealer's lot to test the transmission and the steering, it all checked out. if it has a CB, open the squelch wide open and see if it makes the ...

I just stand up straight, or now with my Mick-O-Pegs, I just stand on those and straighten out completely leaning against the backrest....

you need to take some Potassium pills before you ride.

If riding with friends, we usually agree on Channel 5 if no radio, then a hand slapping your helmet means "I have to stop" Otherwise, the common hand signal for "Stop" left arm straight down to the road, palm facing back. Straight out to the left, "left turn" Straight up, "Right Turn" Wildly gesticu...

I honestly think the singular most valuable thing you can do is put a headlight modulator on your bike. I haven't put one on mine...yet. But every time I see a bike with one, it GRABS my attention. Sadly here in the UK headlight modulators are illegal, reserved for the emergency services only I rod...

Hm, they have them for the GL-1200, GL-1800 and F6B, nothing for a GL-1500... :| I think that can be fixed, demand is what gets things on the market. If you don't call them and ask for a GL1500 model, and no one does either, it won't be made. There are more 1500s out there right now than anything e...

How effective is it when it rains? Re: 2004 Honda Goldwing GL1800 Motorcycle - $9200

I hope you can get it moved out of your garage.... two years ago, I bought my 2002 with 72,000 miles for $7,000 it had about $4,000 worth of Kuryaken stuff on it, most of which I did not appreciate as it caused the sun to glare back into my eyes..... I stripped it all off from the top where the sun ...
