Re: Odd carb issue... Slides flutter Video included

I have never seen the fuel filter fill up. When I have looked at it is only been partially full.

Have you checked the fuel petcock to make sure it is passing fluid properly? There is a procedure in the service manual for testing the fuel petcock, maybe you should try it.

Re: Replacing handlebar switch assemblies

Yes, it is an old post but it is good that you found it. I have to tell you though, removing the fans is just as big a pain as removing the fairing, if not more so. I replaced the left handlebar control and a guys 2000 SE a year and a half ago. Didn't remove the fans but did take all the bolts out o...

You didn't ask about the rotor but for the record, the '88 - '89 rotors are a different size than the rest of them.

Re: Front break lever and lights

Weird. I cuuuda sworn my '03 had 2 individual switches. Oh well. I was pretty sure of it too until I looked up the part. Maybe a physical examination would render different results but it sure looks like there is just one switch. Found the switch. Yup, just one for the brake lever. Sells for $10 at...

Re: Front break lever and lights

Don't waste your time cleaning the switch, it won't last or even make a difference. They're relatively cheap at HONDA, believe it or not. And while you're in there, replace the other switch that's for the cruise control system. Before you disconnect it, take a few photos first so you get the wires ...

Will a rear wheel from a 1990 or newer Gl1500 fit on a 1988?
Short answer, No. It is not a direct fit/install.

Re: size of 1500 screw

The local bolt store will have them in stainless steel as well. Usually at a more palatable price than Honda.
Besides, I'm not 100% sure that Honda screws are stainless. I know the stock screws were not stainless in any of my GL1500's or GL1800's.

Not everything done by oldsters was life sustaining or even intelligent. Some things were thought provoking and insightful while others were life threatening and downright ignorant. I'd put Oil Tasting in the later category.

Re: 1500 rear master cylinder

A new master cylinder retails for a little over $200. You can buy a rebuild kit for a little under $30. After replacement or rebuild and replacement, make sure you have bench bled the master cylinder before installing it. Also, if you elect to rebuild it, make sure you clean all the ports in the mas...

Re: LED light bar

Hello all, Has anyone mounted a LED light bar underneath the chin fairing on their GL1500? I've got a 2000 SE and have been looking at 1500-2500 lumen light bars that would tuck right under there and wire into the high beam circuit. Has anyone done this yet? In the region below. https://www.superbr...

Re: Odd carb issue... Slides flutter Video included

You have not said and no one else has mentioned it but is the fuel petcock doing its job? If it is not opening like it should with vacuum or the diaphragm is torn, the fuel supply will not be sufficient for the bike to run properly. Try bypassing the fuel petcock and then do your tests again to take...

The MBTX20U is for the GL1800. The MBTX24U is physically too large.

I have one of each. Got them through Amazon.

Read up on how the ABS works. ABS light on when the bike is first started. Goes out as the bike starts rolling above 5 mph etc. Read up on how the NAVI works. Many functions can not be accessed unless the bike is stationary. Ask the owner when the maps were last updated. I think the 2007 had TPMS. M...

Re: older style wet cell battery

I charged the battery for about 18 hrs on the trickle charger Saturday. Today, at lunch, I checked it and it read 12.01V with nothing attached. The max available current from the charger is 2A. This is not a battery tender but a battery charger meant for light duty work. After 18 hours at 2 amps, t...

Re: older style wet cell battery

If the battery is only reading 12.01 volts after being charged for the length of time you say it has, then I would take it to be recycled and buy a new battery. A motorcycle battery that is fully charged should read about 12.75 volts with no load. A better test is by using a load tester. Any battery...

I've seen them and thought about buying one. Had a chance to get one free at one point but turned that down too.

I realized that I always park the bike in the garage on the center stand. When I need to rotate the front wheel, I simply lift on the wheel and rotate it.
