Re: Safety Flashers on the Older Bikes

I have come up with three different option that can be used. The basis for the three is I took into consideration the amount of space to install in. Then how much additional wiring did I want to add. I also wanted to keep from cutting into the existing wiring and doing splices. The parts used depend...

Safety Flashers on the Older Bikes

It's been awhile since I've posted to the forum so I say hello. I've seen a post where someone has been searching for the safety flashers on the GL1100s. I have come up with a simple solution and I'll work on a "How-To". I have come up with two variations of this and have added flashers to both of m...

Re: Flashers

What I did on my 83 is to cut the female plug off installed two female spade connectors on the Gray and Black. Tucked the green back and replaced the three prong flasher with a two prong solid state. Works like a charm.

Looking good. If you still need the weight, cable harness or anything else from the fairing I still have the one in the shed from the 83 Interstate I turned into the White Bike. You're welcome to it all. Kind of paying forward. might have a vent cap for the rear end too. Send me a PM if your interes...

Finally Done!

It's been awhile since I posted to the forum. Life kept me busy but I proud to show the "White Bike" finished. Took some time but the wife is thrilled on how her creative juices turned out. Next week it gets trailer'd down to the DMV for the tags. It's definitely is a girls bike. Yes those are purpl...

Re: 1983 GL1100 NEED HELP BAD!!!!!

I think we can start answering your questions. First the battery ground cable for this year is tied to the upper rear engine mount bolt, this is the lower of the three on the a frame piece located on the left side right next to the fuel shutoff. I would for my next step is pull all of the spark plug...

Re: Absense

We used the vinyl color from ColorRite. Not sure how well it's going to hold up to wear. We also picked up a saddle seat and bolster at a swap meet so I'll be working on getting these to fit. They'll get redone. This is more of an experiement.

Absense

It's about time I came in from the cold. Life got in the way so it's time to get back. Many of you remember awhile ago I was customizing the GL1100, aka the White Bike. Finally started back on it after letting it sit. The wife had swapped a mattress set for a Shadow 750. Well the short of the long s...

Re: I gotta new camera today

Wife was in Staples today getting some supplies for the store and ran across a Vivitar 810HD for $50.00 on sale. Started to play with it and it's kind of neat. Uses an SD card. Takes photos and video. Thing fits in the palm of my hand and is super light. Hey can't go wrong with the price for a quick...

Dodge the bullet here in York. Just a boatload of leaves down but no damage. Checked on my daughter in Maryland and surprise she still has power.
The "Down Under" really sounds good right about now.

Re: Harley Mufflers on the Cheap

GLENN.... Hope your still on here. I know this is a very old post, but I love the look of the plastic engine covers in your video. Does anyone know if that style will fit an 83 GL1100? Or where I can get some. Can't find them on Ebay. They look much better then the normal chrome ones I have. Any in...

Re: Harley Mufflers on the Cheap

From what I've read there shouldn't be any need to change them. It's too early for me to report on them, still working on it, had to take a break from it to catch up on the other projects.

Re: My daughter is very ill

It is so hard for us to understand why God works as he does but we can only accept that it was his will to have her with him and for us to accept it. It is wonderful that she was able to fulfill your life for a short while and in a way still is with you on earth.
God Bless

One More in the Barn

Need help/advice! My wife bartered a deal last week and now we have a 2002 Shadow Spirit. She owns a mattress store so what a deal. Mattresses for the bike. It's been sitting since 2010 so I know a overall cleaning, cleaning the tank and fuel system. After two Goldwing redos this is almost the norm....

Re: Harley Mufflers on the Cheap

Good catch. When I took these pictures it was nowhere complete. I installed the radiator back on it and fired it up. It does run so I've got it torn down again. I wasn't sure if the engine was going to prove good.
