Re: Coolant Resevoir tank

You could use a syringe to empty the tank first and then try to see it.

Re: Coolant Resevoir tank

It is a critical part which provides the radiator coolant at full level. When the coolant heats up it expands in volume and travels into the expansion tank, then after it cools down it should go back into the radiator through that plastic straw. Otherwise the radiator will suck air inside which is n...

Re: Cornering light

The relays of the cornering lights are Normally Closed types, that means when you turn on the signal to one side, the cornering light on that side will come on because the voltage going there is interrupted by the position light relay in the relay box (that is also NC type) and the turn signal switc...

Re: Help identifying a carbie

In addition to the carburetor upgrade, I think you will also need to upgrade some ignition system parts like ECU, selenoid valves and some vacuum lines. Based on the wiring diagrams, the similar ignition and fuel systems are as follows. There are some minor differences between similar models though....

A video record would be helpful to comment on and for future reference.

You can add videos uploading on you YouTube first and then adding a link here.

Re: Tilt sensor Bypassed Permenently ??

The BAS bypass on trikes is necessary, because when cornering, the ball inside will move outwards causing engine to stop, while on normal bikes the ball will stay centered, and move only when you drop the bike.

If you need a simplified diagram, here is the start system of 91 model.

Note that, not all models have the same diagram.

If I see correctly, I think you haven't bypass the correct side of the connector. You should bypass the wires going to the fuse box like below

Re: No crank issue. Need help!

I recommend you not to connect any extra wire without knowing what you are doing. This bike does not have simple wirings, you can toast something, and already have done I think.

You can add pictures using the attachment tab below the box when writing something.

Re: 1st Time Goldwing Owner

I would definitely change the timing belts, you can find aftermarket ones for a good price. I had bought Gates T275 from eBay. But the dead spot is a fuel issue, I think. Collapsed or bad vacuum lines connected to the carb, clogged fuel filter, poor fuel pump, bad tank cap, bad petcock, bad carb.sli...

My 2000 GL1500 SE A, stinks of gasoline every time I shut it off. And is difficult to start. What is the problem?
I would suspect a petcock failure, either the vacuum line or the petcock itself might have a leak.

Re: Terrible Milage on my brothers 1500

You could also check the ignition system. Pull out the spark plugs one by one and look for a change at the engine sound and rpm. No change will indicate a ignition problem at that cylinder. Carburetor synchronization, bad carb.slides, vacuum line leaks, bad spark plugs, bad air filter, bad engine co...

Re: Reverse light not coming on

Light comes on when the key is first turned so the bulb is good. Reverse does work when the motor is running like it is supposed to . When I engage it the R light doesn't come on and the N light doesn't go out. I was fairly sure it was the switch but appreciate another opinion. It feels like someth...

Re: Reverse light not coming on

There is a switch under the reverse lever. Remove the inner cover (the plastic piece where the lever is mounted) to reach the switch. The switch provides positive voltage to the N light and Reverse system. The N light should go off when the lever is up and R light should come on normally. When you s...

Re: petcock help!!

Petcock stops the fuel flow into the carburetor when the engine is not running.

You should have 180-220 miles normally, when you keep the engine at or below 3000 rpm.

Re: petcock help!!

I will try to answer your questions as far as I could understand. Petcock is a vacuum operated valve, no electrical connection. Fuel pump is in the fuel tank and electrically operated. You should have 35-45 MPG or 5-7Lt/100km normally. With one full tank you should have 300-350 kilometers without us...
