Re: any other 1990 light blue owners?

I'm trying to take my new to me bike back to stock, or at least reasonably close. I think the light blue color may have been a one year color as I don't think I've seen any others. I was hoping that someone else has one that could answer a few questions for me, namely the seat color. I know the das...

Re: Turn signal trouble

As Bluewaterhooker said, you probably did not connect the terminals correctly. I suspect the blu/blk and wht/grn terminals swapped.

Re: Adding an Aux input to the GL1500 radio

If you are asking it to verify whether it is an aux input, as we know an aux input should have 3 pins for a stereo system, so it can not be an aux input.

Starter Did not work with reverse handel up jumping starter
It is normal, if the reverse lever is up, the starter only works when the bike is running.

I couldn't get an answer to my question about starting as the clutch lever pulled in till the second click and the side stand is up.

Re: 97 GL1500 drive shaft line up

I took the drive shaft and rear drive off my 85 to fix a leak. And yes the u-joint does flop around, hers what I did. I pulled the rubber boot towards the front of the bike and put a shop towel around the u-joint to hold it up. I then slid the drive shaft and rear drive up inthe shaft tube. A little...

Re: Adding an Aux input to the GL1500 radio

This one is my 6th one and it is a 1994 gl 1500 SE. with only 42,000 miles on it.I have had 2 1100's a 1200 a 1993 asp. and I have a 2002 1800 and now this 1994 SE with a side car. Re: 89 Gl1500 no spark

Actually, I am trying to understand the reading on the screen, whether it means 1.99mA or 19.9mA, since I don't know how your multimeter adjusts the range. I think the multimeter auto adjusts the range and if this is true, the reading is 1.99mA which is less than 5mA and the leakage is within the li...

Don't try to roll much, just feel it holds the bike when the reverse lever is up. You can damage the gears.

Re: 89 Gl1500 no spark

Sorry, the probe position is correct.Disconmecting the ground and inserting the amp meter between the battery lug and the cable. With the key off the meter should read well below 0.05 amp.Less than 50 miliamp. Not volts and certainly not 5 amp. The probes on the multimeter side is wrong. Notice the r...

Re: 89 Gl1500 no spark

If you are doing a leakage test, you should read the amperage , not the voltage. And it should not exceed 5mA. As far as I see from the picture, the probes of the multimeter are not set for amperage reading. I hope the multimeter is not damaged. Also the test should be done when the ignition key is ...

As far as I see from the picture those bolts are loosened using something like a screwdriver or a punch and a hammer, not broken.

So maybe you can use them later.

I'll go out and check, yes one when pulled in and one when released No, there should be two when pulled in, the second click should be heard when the lever is almost touching the handlebar. Note that, there are two separate switches. Try to start the bike when you hear the second click, and the sid...

Re: Air ride rear supension

There are many parts involved in the OEM suspension system, even the LCD unit has connections. So I would not try to upgrade it to the one on the SE/Asp, instead I would replace both rear shocks with progressive ones, and use an external compressor. You can download the wiring diagram below to have ...

If the bike isn't European spec, the headlights automatically come on with the ignition - and there is no switch.
