Interesting Ride

I went for a short ride today to get some supplies. On the way home I heard a strange noise that I thought came from the radio. Unfortunately it was the valve stem tearing apart on my rear wheel. I was only doing about 60 mph at the time. Any how it was quite a wobbly ride until I got stopped. No ha...

Could you mount the rear wheel in the tow dolly and pull the bike backwards? No wear on the transmission and improved radius..

Re: Shinko 230 or 777 and balancer stuff????

I have used Shinko Tourmaster 230 for a couple of years. They are great tires for wet roads. I do ride a bit fast and they handle very well. The front tire has about 18,000 kilometres on it and is about half worn out. I replaced the rear tire at about 12,000 kilometres. They do give a comfortable ri...

That is a great question. Sometimes things just do not work the way we need them to. I do not blame you for being frustrated. Electrical problems are not easy to fix.

Re: Alternator conversion kit.

Hang in there Chompper, I feel your pain. Ernest is one of the best. Once you test the resistance of the sensors you will know if you have to do the work... Usually if the sensor under the timing covers go bad the bike will still start and run until the motor warms up and dies.. You will find the pr...

Re: GL1200 darkside question

I see that Wall Mart.com has the Nixen 165 80R 15 SB802 tire on for $60.00.You can order one on line and pick it up at your closest Wall Mart. You will have to pick it up in the U.S. If you are close to the U.S. border this may be your least expensive route to the dark side...

Re: replacing timing belts

Hi Fred, there is a couple good videos on this on U Tube. One is by Saunders that is very good. I use Gates T070 belts that you can get at any Napa store at a reasonable price. Just study up before you start and go one step at a time. :D

Re: Possible fuel issue?

It will not hurt to change the fuel filter and hopefully that will fix your troubles. A couple of questions, how long does it take to cool down before it will start again? How long will it run before it dies? :?:

Re: 1200a pg

If your reading 1080 ohms cold, I would think your pulse generators are working. It may just be your meter is off a little. If you do replace them save your old ones as they may come in handy some day. Typically when PG are bad you will get proper or close resistance readings when cold, when hot the...

It is black with silver two tone 1987 Aspencade. Honda must have made a few in this colour combination. I have only seen two both in Ottawa or maybe it was,the same one twice.

An 87 Aspencade just turned up on kijiji Ottawa this morning. I found it by searching kijiji Ontario. So at least there is one in Canada..
Good luck with your search.... :D

Re: Pulse Generator/coil shutting down engine on highway!

The symptoms you are describing certainly indicate your pulse generators are bad. You can check them by disconecting them, they plug in under the tank right in front of the 8 in plug for the voltage regulator. When cold, you should see around 320 resistance with your multimeter, if that is the case p...

Re: Leaking antifreeze

This would be a good time to change your timing belts, while you are tracking the leak down. You have to remove the radiator to do this which will allow you to check and replace your hoses. The leak could be from several sources: the rad itself, the over flow tank or hose, rad cap, cross over tubes ...

1986 odometer and trip meter

My odometer quit working on my 86 Interstate last week. The speedometer is working. Is this a problem that can be fixed or will I have to replace the instrument cluster? I know I can do with out the odometer but I like to have everything working. Olso I would like to keep this bike as original as po...

Re: 1986 1200 not sure

If it will start again after a period of time (once it cools down) it sounds like you have a faulty pulse generators. They are located inside the front timing covers. They should show approximately 320 resistance and probably do when your bike is cold. They connect to the wiring under the tank just ...
