Re: Question about rear wheel bearings

Yeah, this was a case of putting the cart before the horse,I remember now that I took the spacer out to better clean the final drive splines and thought I put it back.

Re: Coolant leak from weep hole

Had a problem with my Goldwing when I got it but instead of coolant seeping from the weep hole mine leaked oil from it,as oldishwinger says you have to take it all apart and make sure the orings are seated correctly.

Re: Question about rear wheel bearings

I meant to ask this yesterday,is the rear wheel supposed to be a bit stiff when you put all new bearings,it will spin freely until I torque the axle nut to 69 foot pounds as per the manual.

Re: Question about rear wheel bearings

Yea,I found an exact bearing that fit perfectly, everything is back in place although the rear wheel is going to have to be ridden so it will seat in,just a little stiff from the new bearings, the company I found thanks to the young lady from Cycle Service is called Alabama Bearing in Dothan Alabama,t...

Re: Question about rear wheel bearings

Yeah,I thought that was going to be the case even tho the bike shop I got the bearing kit from says they are the ones for my Goldwing, the bearing for the left side of the rear wheel was right, the one on th right goes in too far. :D

Question about rear wheel bearings

Hello,I am confused about this, replacing the rear wheel bearing set and the new bearing for the right side seems to be thinner than the original,I had already installed the new bearings in the wheel and noticed that when I was tightening the axle nut it was leaving too much play on the internal spac...

Re: Steering head bottom bearing removal/race removal

Hi,finally got back around to working on putting the steering stem back on,as far as putting that lower bearing on I took it to a local shop that I do business with and they put the new bearing and seal on for $15.00 so I didn't have fuss with it myself, the only tool I bought for the rest of the wor...

Re: Large plugin to the fairing

Re: Large plugin to the fairing

Hi,I have the fairing off so getting to everything is easy to get at but I am curious about something,my bike is an 86 model but I have an 84 parts bike and was wondering if there is any difference in the harness on that bike because it is in great shape with no corrosion. :D

Large plugin to the fairing

Hi,in doing my steering head bearings I have been checking a few electrical issues out,the plug I am concerned with goes to the harness block on the fairing,it is the largest of the three that plug there, two have cleaned up very well but the large one is still kinda yucky,so here is a photo, just wan...

Re: Steering head bottom bearing removal/race removal

Thanks for the idea, but I found a way to get them out, what I did was take an old style lug wrench and cut off the end with the elbow then sharpened the other end with my grinder so it would catch the edge of the race,it got them out in about five minutes and no damage to the steering head,Yea. :D

Steering head bottom bearing removal/race removal

Got everything down and out ready to go back together except for an easy way to get the bottom bearing off the triple ,the way the shop manual says is to put the triple tree in a vise to knock it off so either I am not holding my mouth right or something,it will not budge, also need an easy way to ge...

Starter Question

Hi,this is kinda weird, just put my rebuilt starter on about a week ago and all seemed ok until a few days back, when I first turn the bike on the starter just spins the first time then after that cranks as normal every time until I go out to crank it again, does the same thing. ????
