Re: How to rebuild your front brake calipers

11 months since my post in this thread. GLoria has seen some duty but not a lot, less than 3000miles. Rode up to Aurora, IL yesterday. Part way started getting noises from the front brakes. Found this morning metal to metal on the left side pads. Local Honda shop had pair of EBC HH PADS, $47. Yeah, ...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

Y'all ain't gonna believe this: I'm injured again. A month ago, rode NaNCy, my nc700x, down to Green Lake State Park, KY to visit with friends. While there, suffered a debilitating Sciatica attack. The ride home on Friday was excruciating. ER, XRays, CT scan, Nd MRI, 4 CORTISONE shots, pain pills, e...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

I know I've beenever missing again but the reasons might amuse y'all: best reason ride GLORIA to Barber Vintage Days and drive home; secondo best, got kicked out of girl friend's house. Barber was a great ride down and great event. Had good time working various venues and meetinget new folks. Turned...

Re: Barber vintage days and...

Chris, there were about a dozen of us TSV folks at Barber, got our pic together in front of the museum. Surprised we've seen no posts about it in this forum.

Barber vintage days and...

Well, I'm still in Birmingham. After a super great weekend, my Wing suffered a starter motor failure as I'm was gassing up to head home Sunday afternoon. Analysis says it's the starter motor. Help from a couple locals foot her bump started. Headed back to Barber hoping for a simple solution. Nothing...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

I've been missing for a while, lots of projects and now laid up with a new injury. Three significant events: received the Vietnamese seat for GLoria and installed (no pics yet); BOUGHT a 2015 NC700XD for daily use; BOUGHT a 12x24 she'd as a shop building. Also came this >< close to really breaking m...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

Hiatus recently. A couple projects have kept me OFF the bike and on the nail gun. That's about done so I'll get more here. Just found a replacement right side passenger peg on EBay, ordered out'a Michigan for $13 including shipping. So, one less thing. :D

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

Here's a fresh pic of GLoria on ride-to-work day last Monday. Pool needed some chemical so I rode to the pool, about 40 feet from the front of the garage. :D 13512228_1024199937633155_3986745943604427805_n.jpg Got the new (much lower) bars and new grips, replaced the left side control module due to ...

A couple of nice 83 'Wings

Just a quick note to acknowledge these two 83s, both at Tri-StateVinMoto show in Evansville, IN yesterday. Neither won a trophy but both looked really good. Didn't get a chance to talk to the owners, but the I know the rig is not running. Helped load it on the trailer... 13422402_1019942191392263_53...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

Here's a quick pic of GLoria with her new bars 'n tars (tires). Note the left handlebar control is still missing. With the air shocks 'n tars, she feels way better on the road. Also, I like the look much better without the funky ol' leather bags 'n sissy bar. Much more to come... 13403743_1016735388...

Re: GLoria's GLamour makeover

Just did first test ride after reassembly. Brakes are very mushy so will bleed some more. Luv the new handlebars and new tires. No headlight yet, waiting for the left side handlebar controls. The set from a GL1200 Interstate won't work without a big rewire so it's going back. Found another for an 11...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

I'll play as soon as I have reliable wheels. Just did a test ride after lots of work. She sure feels better but gotta bleed the brakes some more, really mushy at both ends.

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

I see no problem with repeats as long as the actual picture is of a different windmill/steel-wheeled farm implement/chicken dressed as a cowboy than the previous one. :D At ST-Owners, one of my favorite topics was to find a similar but different tag pic. In that game, the new poSTer had to post a pi...

GLoria's GLamour makeover

Good morning, folks. I'm gonna use this thread to document my further work on GLoria, the 83 1100 standard purchased a few weeks ago in East Indianapolis. Carried her home in ol' F150, gave her a curry once over, and rode her from Vincennes, IN to Aurora, IL and back, about 650 miles. Lucky we didn'...

Re: 83 GL1100 Rear Foot Peg Needed

Okay, this is funny. I, too, am missing the right rear peg. In GLoria's case, it's just the peg, the frame mount part is still there, as is the pin which should hold the peg. How do ya loose a peg but not the pin? Just got a tip today, place called Green's Cycle Salvage, specializes in Japanese stuf...

Re: Photo Tag ---Anyone want to play?

Finally a couple nice days in Southern Indiana. I would play if my bike was running. Here's a "cheat" pic, tho. The Bentley ain't a hot rod and the bike is barely visible back in the bowels of the garage, but it is there. I won't make a claim on this one, but guarantee I'll be playing once GLoria is...

Re: Rebuilding Air Shocks

Got my shocks rebuilt, put in 10.5 oz as recommended in the 12 part rebuild vid above. 12.5 oz was just too much, nearly overflowed the canister. Anyhoo, here's a couple pics, first with a shock blown apart using the rubber tip air gun (the drip pan caught everything), second with my high-price bicy...

Re: Rebuilding Air Shocks

Thanks, Asp. I'm finding other info on line, this vid (12 parts, refill is in part 12) sez 10.5 oz with the Progressive springs in the stock shocks. Another thread on this site sez 11 oz. I suppose it's possible (a) the Honda book is wrong or (b) my used shocks already have Progressive springs. Anyw...
