Re: 1981 GL1100 Left/Right Heads interchangeable?

Yes, the heads are interchangeable left or right. Same Honda part number for either head. Honda number 12200-463-010. What year Goldwing does the seller claim they are from?

Re: How do I repair THIS?

The article appeared many months ago somewhere on the forum and apparently has been touched on and reviewed several times. I'm not sure where the original information is but if you do a search here for "ABS repair" or "ABS slurry" in the search engine it brings up a lot of various topics that involv...

Re: How do I repair THIS?

It never ceases to amaze me how much damage people can do to these motorcycles through ignorance and stupidity. What kind of hack would butcher your fairing like that to mount a stupid car mirror! My bike had a similar idiot previous owner who used a drill and jig saw to cut two speaker holes in my ...

It looks like the bottom part of your foot peg fell off. Take a look under each one and see.

Re: Anyone recognize this floating rear disc??

That's an EBC Pro-Lite brake rotor made by EBC Brakes. It is their part number MD1082 for an 1983 GL1100. It's a pretty expensive part at just over $200.

Re: Change seat gl1100-80

$40 for a seat, 4 carburetors, and a radiator? That's a good price for everything you're getting! You can still use that seat as is for right now, if you want, and think about changing it later if you decide you want a custom seat made out of it to your specifications. I've never heard of Desert Cus...

Re: Change seat gl1100-80

That looks like someone used an original seat and did just what I suggested in my earlier reply. What bike does the advertisement say it is from? It's the right idea but I think the foam reshaping and the custom cover could have been done a lot better than that one. If it's cheap enough then it migh...

Re: Change seat gl1100-80

The seat pan will be the limiting factor as to what will fit on a 1980 GL1100. If you started with an original 1980 or 81 seat and had an upholstery shop reshape the foam and make a custom cover in the style you like, it could be made much more like the GL1000 style seats. I think the only differenc...

Re: Source for Reproduction Handlebar Switches

Good job members! Thanks to those GL1100 owners who have sent a request to tech@partsnmore addressing the lack of left side switch controls as I requested. Remember that the right side switches are already available and are a non issue, so no need to concern yourself with them. If you haven't sent a...

Re: What can you do when the old radio doesn't work anymore

Very impressive! Good job on the new radio! I am in the planning stage for a modern stereo system for my old Hondog too. Unfortunately mine won't be as elaborate or cool as yours though. We'd like to see your pictures when you have time. Thanks.

Source for Reproduction Handlebar Switches

Hello all. I just made an inquiry to Parts N More about a possible future production run of left side handlebar switches to go with their right side switch assemblies they are already currently producing. I asked about the 1980-81 models specifically but I think 82-83 model bikes would be excellent ...

Re: Just acquired a 1983 GL1100 Interstate

Nice project bike! 1983 is the best of the GL1100 series Goldwings. I would suggest you continue cleaning and servicing it back up to excellent condition like others here have already said. Parts are pretty easy to get for it in the United States and 80-83 Goldwings are pretty easy to work on. Find ...

Thanks for your help WingAdmin. I was hoping you would be one of the members that would reply to my inquiry. Identifying Type Of Plastic

Thanks to the members who have posted the ABS cement and ABS shavings mixed together slurry trick to repair the hard plastic on our GL1100 bodywork cracks. I am trying to identify the type of plastic the front fenders are made out of now. They seem much more flexible than the rest of the bike parts ...

Re: Body Damage

They are located at 630 46th Ave NE Calgary. I don't think they do any bodywork or painting there but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'm sure they have done insurance work in the past involving painting on bike parts so they could probably help you with a recommendation.

Hi Hap. If the parts you need are stock Honda parts then Ross over at Adventure Honda can get you anything you need. He is one of the best parts guys I've ever dealt with. I wouldn't shop anywhere else except maybe Turple Brothers in Red Deer.

Good job Greg. If it ever comes loose again it just means you needed to put a tiny bit more on than you did the first time. It can be redone if you ever need to. Glad I could help. Happy riding!

Good job! That's the first 1983 I've ever seen with a Windjammer fairing on. It looks great. Like you I also learned the joy of finding all the nasty little surprises and screw ups the previous owner (or series of previous owners) left for somebody else to deal with.

Re: floppy mirror syndrome

The obvious answer is to sell the GL1200 and go buy a GL1100  Sorry, I just had to say it. Actually try removing the loose mirror from the bike and hold it so the socket is horizontal. Apply a small amount of either green or blue Loctite in the tiny gap around the socket and wiggle and rotate t...

Hey Maritimeboy, I just removed one of those accessory chrome dipsticks from my 1980 Hondog not that long ago. I see mine's the same year as your bike too. The one from my bike wasn't meant to have a bracket that attaches at the lower acorn nut on the radiator grille guard. It just went up at an ang...

Re: GWRRA Members ???

I'm not a member of GWRRA but I sat in on a meeting of the local chapter last month to hear what they were about. It is Chapter AB-A, and is a pretty big group. They were officially formed in September 1981. I found the members to be very friendly and easy to get along with. I was especially impress...
