Re: LED Headlight replacement: all 4 now or just low beams?

A good installation requires that the modules be tucked away, held in place, and that the leads (low beams) never touch, under any riding conditions, the fork pipes or steering head as the bars move from side to side, and as the forks collapse and extend. To do such installation, you'll probably fi...

Re: LED Headlight replacement: all 4 now or just low beams?

The low beans can be done in ten minutes by going thru the the tunnels . I just swapped installed the low bean LEDs on my 2017. The high beans are a different story. Unless you want to get frustrated out of your mind or you want to tear down the front fairing I would suggest not doing the high beans...

Re: removing panel holding headlight adjustment & preload switches ??

you need to pull/pry the black trim off the take out the screw or screws holding the panel in. That is it. After the first time it is easy.
Prying the trim off is nerve racking the first time, mine are very tight fitting.

I did a check on my 2006 at 150,000 miles and all cylinders where between 190 and 205. So you may want to check yours again or use a different gauge.

Re: UK Satnav coming to USA

THe mount will break before the tape will come off. Did many 10s of thousands of miles on some very rough roads, including 400 miles of dirt road on the Trans-Labrabor-Highway tape never let loose once. The mount broke once when I tried to get an air bubble out from under the tape. The second time w...

Re: UK Satnav coming to USA

If you want to mount it to the windscreen there is a ram mount ball that has 3m tape instead of the suction cup. Works very well. The mount will break before
the tape will let loose.

Re: 05 gl1800 clutch replacement

Are you sure it is not the altenator drive gear ? My old 2006 made a hell of a racket blipped the throtle because of a bad drive gear. This is a known issue with older
1800s. My understanding is it was fixed in newer 1800s. In either case if repairs are needed you will have to remove the engine.

Re: Turning on your GPS without stopping!

JerryOfAZ How are you doing on that ? I would be interested in hearing how it is going. My first nav mod was very similar but used 556 timer and relays. You will find that it will be very reliable unless you operate other things, volume control, suspension, trunk or saddle bags open, etc. will defea...

Here is my take from my experience. I had the full Traxxion installed in 2007 on my then 2006 gl1800 with 14000 miles on it. At that time they did not have the triple tree. Have had it serviced by Traxxion every 20000 and 50000 miles as recommended by Traxxion. At 200000 miles with worm but still le...

Re: TaoTronics Bluetooth Transmitter

There are threads on this board telling you how to do just that. I have wired my bluetooth transmitter into the bikes intercom. I can now hear the bikes audio system in my smh10 headset. The easiest way to do this is get one of the transmitters above and a 5pin to 3.5mm adapter for the gl1800 interc...

Check the map date and size. Latest authorized mapest for a 2008 is 2014.4. Latest fw is 4.9. If it is an unauthorized mapset and it is larger than about 2050mb it will act that way.

The mod of using just a switch was mentioned in the original post and was posted back in 2009 on an other site and it will only work on the 2009 and up. Also in the original post it is stated that just cutting the speed sense and adding a switch will not work on 2006 - 2008 but if you can come up wi...

Do not turn the ignition on or allow the meter lead connected to the + cable to short to ground or you will probably damage the meter. Now check the cu...

OldBrit if you have the extended warranty the dealer should replace it. I had mine replaced at 145,000 miles when small dots appeared.
My dealers justification to Honda was that is were the odometer is.
