Re: Repair or replace CB

Before doing anything else, you might try spraying some contact cleaner in those switches. A lot of times they will quit working and a good cleaning with some electrical contact cleaner will get them working again. You may have to take the housing apart to get to the switches better to clean them i...

Repair or replace CB

So while trying to hack my CB to get it BT to the helmet the unit quit working. It was flaky before but now it's stuck on channel 40 and has no TX. I only really want it because it's there and I want anything installed to work but 125 with a chance to go higher for repair or what looks to be a good ...

Re: Racetech Gold Valve Emulators

Thanks both these responses are really helpful. Gonna pull the trigger but it'll be a summer time job. I won't ride when it's tripple digits :)

Red,
Adjusting them will be a chore will it not or is there not alot of preload so you can take the caps off without removing the forks?

Racetech Gold Valve Emulators

Anyone running these http://racetech.com/page/title/GVWHYGV And if so how do you like the them. I feel the things they say this corrects and when I thought I had blown fork seals I started looking into it. The kit they sell comes with 1KG springs and the need to make a custom spacer which is a bit o...

Re: Having a real problem keeping my 92 1500 cc Gold Wing upright

Read through it as well then realized it was started in 16 :o I dropped mine leaving the house where i bought it. I half dropped it again during a skills class. Bike was very intimidating and still is not to be trifled with but the more I ride the smaller it feels. I'm 6' 2" with a 34 inseam. I'm al...

Re: Compression readings....

Wow lots of sarcasm here. Yes I have tried it both ways and it makes zero difference. Done more compression checks than I can count on everything from a hot rod big block to a chain saw.

But then again I've only actually done it not been educated about it so I guess experience is meaningless.

Re: Compression readings....

compression readings are affected by many things, WOT is really not one of them but temp and cranking speed absolutely are. Not sure what the spec should be but they are even and if the bike starts fine when cold I would not worry a bit.

Re: DIY car maintenance

so the Saturns at launch were touted as being designed with service in mind. Not sure if they spent too much design time on that and not enough on making the car appealing but Saturn is no more, even though they were pretty good cars and pretty easy to work on for a front drive compact car.

Re: Do you wear your " Helmet "

This debate is like any other controversial "freedom" topic. Folks will pull any example to justify their position. Can I see why folks would not want to wear a helmet, yes I can, am I one of them, no I'm not. Will I ever be able to convince someone to wear one, I doubt it. I guess the bottom line i...

Re: Engine Out Compression Test

I have done compression test on all kinds of engines from a chain saw to a big block. I have never had a closed throttle affect the reading. Just not enough air flow at cranking speed to matter.

Rule of thumb is 10% variance between cylinders.

Re: I Cut The CORD!!!!! Best $35 spent! BT-S2 1000m Bluetooth Headset Review

I've paired it with a Sena 5 in a helmet from cycle gear. It's thier store brand and a special low cost Sena model. It works but after a couple of tries. What also sucks is if you don't turn the ST off correctly it eases all the pairing.

Why use the radio speakers

How many use the speakers and why? Just curious. I turned it on once and with a full face helmet it was pretty pointless. I use a BT helmet and just stream all my music, I'm in my 50s but completely embrace technology, so we don't really see the point in the built in system anymore. Am i missing som...

Re: Potential Purchase of 1993 low mileage GL1500 Timing belt Question

I just replaced the belt on my 97. They were original and had 80k on them. They looked fine all.in all but it is well worth the piece of mind. It takes a bit to get at them but really not a hard job. It took me about 4 hours but I also did a cruise control adjustment at the same time so it's probabl...

Just a little rant

I really love my bike. The more I ride the more I like it. I get compliments on it all the time as well it's really nice owning it, until you have to work on it. Everything is sooooo hard to do. Jeez. The flipping body work makes everything 10 times harder. Started to adjust the cruise cable cuz I'm...

Re: Windbender windshield

After a few days I'm not so sure about it. Lots more wind noise and good amount of air comes around the sides and sucked in from the back. That is great on a nice day but maybe a bit cold at 41 degrees. Wife likes it so far but we've only done a 45 minute ride at 60. Not sure how she will feel after...

Re: Windbender windshield

Doesn't your clear shield tilt forward? Something doesn't look like the one on my son's 1800 bike. I had to go down in the rain to look at it, LOL. His tilts forward About 3 inches from the lower shield. and at 80 MPH there is no buffeting and the wind blows around the sides and well over your head...

Took off the boards they are marklands you can see the mount in the pic, I need pegs about here 20180128_133512.jpg The crash guard and fairing really make it hard to put you leg anywhere but in the "notch" created by the two. Found a used set of mic-o-pegs on Craigslist but I don't think those woul...

I noticed on your sidebags you do not have lights there?? I don't but have seen them even on the cover of the Clymer Manual :) I though an SE was an SE maybe not available in 97? So yeah thinking the same thing. I will have to look but I would bet it has the "little" plugs in those like on the trun...

Re: Show Chrome LED dual conversion harness 13-307

I got around to mocking up my intended set up on my workbench this morning, using 1 of the 2 circuits I got to power up 2 arrays of LED strips. I'll be using one as runningboard running lights and turn signals and the other will be up front as a marker/turn signal (in addition to the front turn sig...
