Re: Who Never Wears A Helmet

Spoke to a woman at a riding class that does not wear a helmet. She said a nurse told her they would break your neck in a crash. I didn't want to argue with her but that is justifying a behavior with a total disregard doe the truth. It's convenient so believed. Do I wear a helmet, yes. Do I think ev...

Re: Shorty windshield

Thanks for the advise that's a good idea. . I was a bit surprised that the factory adjustment was eliminated but I guess they need the thickness for strength.

Re: Cylinder compression

as others have said the actual reading is not as important as consistency between cylinders. rule of thumb is within 10%. Many things will impact the actual readings but throttle position is really not one of them. I've done hundreds of compression checks on everything from big block V8s to 50cc cha...

Re: While I'm in there ytis(eye-tis)

Wow! Is that all? No problem with that, pretty good deal. Hey we are not buying a new one are we? We are making ours look new. Please send photo after installing. Will do. And LEDs have come a long way. Super bright has just about everything and for headlights it's like $75 instead of $110 at socal...

Re: While I'm in there ytis(eye-tis)

Wow so looking at all the LEDs and I'm at 24 lamps and $180 and I'm not doing the cornering or turn signals. Don't want to mess with the flasher and the cornering lights can stay until they burn out or I decide to change them to rumning lights. This includes the headlights and adding the lights to t...

While I'm in there ytis(eye-tis)

Replacing the tires so, " while I'm in there" going to change the drive oil, check brakes all that makes sense. But I think I tend to go too far. I'm replacing the windshield so "while I'm in there" I'm going to upgrade the headlights and position lights to LED, and since I'm doing that imay as well...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

So the plot thickens. Apparently most shops don't want to mount tires they don't sell. If the do they want $50 per tire.

So new plan. Changing them myself and using Dyna beads. So I went from riding it in to a shop and waiting for it to doing 100% of the work myself. Clearly I'm fickle :)

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

If you have a Cycle Gear store near, they will mount and balance a tire for $20.00. At least here in Jacksonville, Florida they will. I have had good success with them for tires. I just take it off and take it to them and can usually wait for it. Russell Those who say it cannot be done should try n...

Re: Shorty windshield

I called and talked to the guy at winbender. Seems like a small outfit but they guy was super nice, guessed my height when I told him my sight line and recommended the 14, well he called it the 15, so.i ordered it. If it doesn't work for me I'll send it back for an exchange. He is telling me with it...

Re: Do you use a dealer for service?

I don't use dealers on older bikes because they don't work on them very often..If you don't mind traveling a bit D&D Discount motorcycles in Temps does great work, are honest and won't **** you over. when doing tires..rear oil should be change, reapply moly, check rubbers and bearings etc. they do ...

Do you use a dealer for service?

I do all my own work that I'm able to do. That is a lot and when I do need a mechanic it is for the really nasty jobs, or for diagnosis, and I never use a dealer outside of warranty. This is for my cars. Followed the same path for the bike but I need tires and a local dealer installs for free. Well ...

Re: Shorty windshield

I am 6’3” tall, and with it in the highest position, I get no buffeting. Which size of Windbender do you have on your bike? I am PRETTY SURE mine is the HP (curved top) and I rarely , never actually, have had to adjust the lower half of it, all my adjustment has been with the top half only other th...

Re: best tire that has long life and best ride

I'm following as I need new tires. The "new to me" bike has E3s with a lot of tread but they howl, vibrate the front end at 80, are 5 years old by the date stamps and the shell is cracking at the wheel. I'm sure I could ride the rest of the tread off but they need to go. After reading all of this it...

Have all he parts to finish it up now. Taking a safety class today but hope too wire it up tomorrow. I Need to look at the PTT switch on the handlebar as I'm only getting intermittent TX. I know it can be other things but the indications point to the switch and although not easy by the looks of it, ...

Re: Apeman Endoscopic Camera

I have two of these. One with the horrible display but a stiff "wand" to position the camera and one very much like this only not wifi it hooks to the USB port on the phone. They are helpful but a bit fiddly and take some time to get used to. Don't expect it to be like shrinking yourself down and st...

I have an '85 GL1200. I replaced the original windshield with a MadStad Windshield. I really like it. Here's a link to their web site so you can see what it looks like and how it works: https://madstad.com.
Interesting. I emailed them as I don't see brackets for a gl1500 only a 1200 and 1800

You didnt say if you were trying to pair all those things at once and as stated you get two devices and that is it. I have one paired to a Sena 5 but had to use the Sena feature of pairing with other than Sena headsets.

Re: hack the CB with a cheap Bluetooth

Thread is going dark for a bit. Off on a Holiday vacation for a few days then back to the daily grind :( Waiting for parts anyway figured I'd do a few things at once. I pulled the left glove box and found an add on. Looks like it was for GPS, and radar maybe, into the headsets. Was a powered device ...

Re: hack the CB with a cheap Bluetooth

Got it. I did exactly this when I wired a Bluetooth module into my GL1100. I ended up also having to use transformers to isolate the audio signals, as with the tiny levels involved, it took only the slightest bit of differential to introduce significant ground loop noise. Ok so I'm experiencing sev...
