I work away from home and stay in my RV while away and sometimes have way too much time to think. While tonight is one of those times, I was thinking back to high school (70s) and a game we had where we would “steal” items from each other (belts, favorite tee shirts, etc). As long and you could get ...

Re: Phillips had screws

I got the set of Vessel JIS bits and just used them over the weekend. Definitely feel the difference. I too didn’t know they were different until I read it here on the forum. Been working on Japanese bikes and cars for years and have stripped many screws. I will be purchasing the screwdrivers soon. ...

Re: centerstand

Mine can be a **** to get up on it sometimes. I make sure the rear shock has plenty of air in it. I wear cheap thin sole shoes when working on it and found it is a little easier on the foot with my riding boots on. I’ve had 3 1500s and all were different, one was a pain, one was simple like it had h...

Re: Amount of brake fluid

Removing the front rotor covers and I removed my left saddle bag it took about 3-4 hours. I pulled a more fluid through my front brake because of the small black specks that were coming out, about 3 fills of the reservoir. Wanted it to be clean.

Re: Wingstuff Half Cover Review

Thanks guys. I went on Wingstuff and the half cover was on backorder till end of July.
Has anyone used the Ultragard from Cyclemax?
I can get it in cranberry which will somewhat match my bike. Need one soon, the sun is working overtime here.

Just changed mine and the clutch. I pulled it through with the vacuum bleeder and used the better part of a 32 oz bottle.

Re: Changing Brake and Clutch Fluid

The bleeder bolt was sucking air by the threads so I decided to take the saddle bag off to put thread tape on it and check the pads while in there. I was able to get it open through the hole, but the hose kept coming off also. Where did you get the stainless lines? I feel I’ll need to replace the fr...

Re: Looking for ideas

After purchasing my 99 SE I had the carbs off 4 times and the last time I replaced the slow jets, main jets, jet holders and carb insulators (boots) with all new Honda parts. I set the float levels as per the manual and traced every vacuum line using the diagram in the manual. Found one vacuum line ...

Re: Wingstuff Half Cover Review

Great review and photos of the half cover. I am shopping for one now and this one looks to be strong and reinforced in the right areas. We get a lot of wind here and the sun will bake the seat, handgrips, etc while even on a short stop. Shade is at a premium in South Texas during the summer. What do...

Nelson-Rigg Backpack

I got up this morning and decided to go for a ride into town to get a few things and then to church. After returning home, I packed for my return to work and went out the front door (we normally use the garage door) to put the dog and clothes in the truck and spot a package from Amazon Prime. I had ...

Re: Harvey

We live in the community of Lamar which is covered with these trees. The help deflect the wind from hurricanes over the homes, but a friend who stayed said when lightning struck they could see small tornadoes everywhere. None of the trees had leaves left on them and what wasn’t blown down had large ...

Changing Brake and Clutch Fluid

While installing the Blackwing fork brace, I decided while I had the rotor covers off it would be a good time to change/bleed the brake and clutch fluids. I started with the foot brake which needed to be bled. The pedal had too much travel. I sucked the fluid out of the reservoir with the Harbor Fre...

Re: Blackwing and Shifter Pivot

Got the bike out on the highway and 75 mph feels good. We get a lot of 15-20 mph south winds here and it was more stable in the wind. Think I may have some fork binding. I checked it after I installed the brace and even loosened the axle and pinch bolts a second time to be sure it was set right(?). ...

Re: Blackwing and Shifter Pivot

Got the Blackwing brace on. It was tight, but I was able to work it in. Got the axle bolt and pinch bolts torqued and took a test ride through the neighborhood. The handling difference is amazing. Front end feels stiff (in a good way) and very responsive. I have a limestone drive for about 50 feet t...

Welcome and congrats on your new adventure. I’m sure your grandpa would be glad you’ve taken an interest in resurrecting the Wing. Get a service manual also. Thanks Tom. The one thing about hurricanes is there is plenty of warning to evacuate and we have learned to get everything together and get out. With the Oklahoma tornadoes y’all are lucky to get 5 minutes warning. I have been assigned projects in and around the Tulsa area and I have to say, Oklahom...

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't like backrests

I like it on long trips, but the wife has a hard time with it so I usually have it off. With her on the back I get back rubs, so it’s a good trade off.

Congrats on the bike. From the description on Craigslist and the looks of it, it will be a good one for many years.
Just about anything you need to know about a GL is on this site. A lot of good people and knowledge. And LOTS of part available for them.

Re: 1995 GL1500 good deal?

There is a 95 GL1500 Aspecade on Craigslist here in South Texas with 113,890 miles for $3000. $3000- $3500 is about where they’re at here. Don’t know what they go for in your area. If it runs smooth, idles good, has minimal rust and no leaks I would buy it. Sounds like it’s well maintained. I just b...

Re: Poor radio Reception ????

The antenna connection on my 1999 has to be pushed in completely or the radio doesn’t pickup very well. The plug is very tight and I have to push it pretty hard to get it in completely.
Also, the CB will override the radio. Turning the CB on and off has helped mine.
