Re: Mounting bolt+spacer kit for Markland Drivers backrest?

The bolts are metric. I ordered mine online, from one of those suppliers that has everything under the sun. I got hex socket screws, in stainless steel. Not home, so can't provide name. I had no luck locally. They are an odd size. The spacers you could probably find at Ace Hardware in the bushing s...

Re: Mounting bolt+spacer kit for Markland Drivers backrest?

Just found this site. http://www.aluminumspacers.com/spacers-by-outer-diameter/1-2-inch-outer-diameter-spacers?length=93 Looks promising! Now if I just knew the rear spacers actual dimensions. Pictures of the backrest still for sale only shows front spacers, but in older real peoples bike pics I see...

Mounting bolt+spacer kit for Markland Drivers backrest?

Hi all, I got a nice gift from Wingsconsin. A lovely used Markland Drivers backrest. However, he did not have the mounting bolts and spacers that go into the seat handles. The only place I found these online is davescyclesupply. No longer available! Does anyone know where I can get a mounting bolt a...

Re: 2000 GL1500 Final Drive Fluid

My local Honda stealership charged me $62.59 to replace my final drive oil in my 1997 GL1500, $52.50 for labor, $4.31 parts and $5.25 for shop supplies. Thought the cost was a bit excessive and want to confront the owner, he knows he has got you buy the **** and will tell you to go somewhere else i...

Re: Rear brake issue 1990 GL1500

Hi there. I literally just rebuilt my rear master cylinder today. You do not need to take all that exhaust stuff off to remove it for future referance, but it does make it easier. If you have pedal now the overnight pedal pressure, or a day or two should firm it up. If not, try removing the passenge...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

LAST MECHANICAL UPDATE! SUCCESS! After loosening and bleeding the accessible banjo bolt on the rear master, and a LOT of bleeding front and rear, I have rear brakes!!!!!!!! Getting the rear master out enough to work on it was not that hard at all. Bleeding is the real work! Test ride for 30 mins in ...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

New update: Took rear master cylinder off and rebuilt it, it was busted, see pic below. However, front and rear wont bleed still! Getting 80% air, very little fluid flow. Replaced bleed screws, teflon taped them. Using mityvac and hand transfer pump. Got almost 2 hours now just bleeding. Even ran a ...

I lucked out and found one at local Honda dealer
Ah lucky you!

I will have to call and find out if my local dealer has one. Highly doubt it, they didn't even stock tires for my bike anymore.

Maybe partzilla has this?

Re: Lucas oil stabilizer safe in Gl1500 engine oil?

Synthetic Delo 15w40 should work fine and should last a little longer. Hence justifying the higher cost. I'd use it but have a 20 gallon stock of dino-Delo due to "On Sale Now" promos. BTW: Mixing dino & synth is OK. I 😒accidentally used 5w20...wow the noise. Quickly changed it. That was over 100k ...

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

Glad both of you have been following along. Nice to pay it forward. Big Steve, sounds good on your training plans, good luck and be safe. Your bike may not need as much as I have gone through as mine was not as well cared for and lived outside. Your looking at timing belt, plus all fluids changed, a...

Re: Lucas oil stabilizer safe in Gl1500 engine oil?

Very interesting feedback from everyone. Thank you for that. Nice to see some one using it with no ill effects. I will switch to the better Delo oil first. Non synthetic. Then perhaps later try to add tiny bit of LOS. Engine is just noisy on this bike. Probably the cheap oil I started with as was me...

Re: Resurrecting Grandpa's Wing

I am new to this forum but have been reading for a while now. I, in a round about way, inherited my Grandpa's '92 Interstate. Saturday I finally got to go pick it up. It has been stored for years in a heated garage, but was very dirty. I can remember when he bought the bike new and it was treated l...

How to remove Kurykyn iso grips!

Im SO PISSED! I decided to throw the new grips on tonight. Left side went fine. Slid the throttle side on and it froze almost instantly at 3/4 on! Used the supplied glue like a dumbass instead of hairspray. Yes I sanded, cleaned, and test fit first.... This throttle side will probably never come off...

Re: Lucas oil stabilizer safe in Gl1500 engine oil?

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I to could not find any information on what exactly is in this product. It seems they will not tell anyone. Their label makes no mention of the JASO MA/MA2 certifications, or friction modifiers. I assume it has some in it, so I will not use it in the wing. That's a ...

Lucas oil stabilizer safe in Gl1500 engine oil?

Hey guys, I know what oil goes in the GL1500, using Walmart Supertech 15w40 right now. However, I run Lucas oil stabilizer in all my 4 wheel vehicles. Best stuff in the universe, makes any oil, super oil! Will this hurt the GL1500? I figure it must have friction modifiers to do what it does, but I h...

Re: Getting a 93 Aspencade running after 4 years sitting

You most likely will have to remove the MC to really clean it out. You should be able to clean out the hole all the way through. You'll be able to see light through it. Put it back together, fill, bleed and try it out. Also, do a little googling on it and you'll find a lot of examples of it and the...
