Re: SE or Aspencade SE

My '94 is definitely an Aspencade, but it has the same CB controls you have pictured. I also have the trunk spoiler, rear speakers, lighted handlebar controls, fader knob, and foot vents. Mine doesn't have the adjustable foot rests and cornering lights that came standard on an SE. Evidently, dealer...

Re: SE or Aspencade SE

The SE has adjustable foot rest for passengers, the bike in your picture does not.

Why not email Memphis Shades customerservice@memphisshades.com and tell them of the issue. Maybe they can shed some light on the problem.

Re: Brake/clutch lever

I can not 100% verify this because my friend is not answering his phone but, I remember him telling me that he installed a set of adjustable levers on his fathers GL1500. They came from a GL1800 and it required no modifications, it was a direct bolt on. Here is a picture of his clutch lever, we were...

Re: Mempfis Shades windshield vent install problem

Did you buy it from a vendor or a private party? Did it come with the vent when you bought it?
Not all vents are exactly the same size. A vent from a Honda OEM shield may not fit an aftermarket shield or visa versa.

Re: 2000 GL1500SE intermittent no start

Hi Stew. Personally, I think it is the reverse lever switch that is causing the problem. This is from the Electrical Troubleshooting Manual for the 2000 GL1500: Starter and reverse systems do not operate but the neutral indicator operates. • Weak battery or poor terminal connections. • Blown RVS Sta...

Re: LED Headlight replacement: all 4 now or just low beams?

The LED lows will not over power the highs. The highs will just have a bit of a yellow tinge as all tungsten/halogen bulbs do. Replacing the lows are easy, virtually no disassembly of the bike required. The highs on the other hand are a bitch. One good thing about the bulbs is that they are the same...

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the LED lamps he installed in the instrument panel but I may be mistaken. He is not real clear with what he is referring to.

Hi Fred, I'm coming in late to this thread but I do have some input for you. I know you have already ordered your GPS. Which GPS did you order? What is your proposed method for mounting? Will you be able to integrate it into your audio system? I suppose you could mount it a RAM Mounts to the handleb...

Re: Clutch fluid gone

Brake fluid absorbs moisture and is corrosive. When brake fluid gets in the in the engine oil and it gets hot, it looses any lubricity it may have. Moving parts become dry and sticky. The first parts to seize are usually the plain bearings, like cam and rod bearings, and valves guides. Rubber seals ...

Re: OEM fork springs

MikeB. That does make sense, and probably will go that route if my springs don't measure up. My thinking was though, that most? replace old knackered OEM springs with nice new progressive and say wow, much better. Well yes, that's like replacing an old worn Avon tyre with a new Dunlop and saying wo...

Re: OEM fork springs

I know you are saying that it is not about the money but, the springs are between $50 and $75 US per fork tube depending where you buy them. And, if someone has already replaced the springs, you will no doubt not have an OEM spacer to insert with your OEM springs. Of course you will not know that un...

Re: 1997 GL 1500 alternator rapping noise?

The alternator drive gear sprocket replacement requires engine removal in case you didn't already know. I had mine replaced under warranty so I can not guess at what it would cost to replace it. I hope it is the snubbers or the alternator bearings that are causing your issues.

Re: Replacing fork oil

Race Tech is really no different than Progressive in feel or price. Either one is good. OEM springs are too soft for my taste and there is too much sag by the time they have 20,000 miles on them or so. That is pretty much why Progressive and Race Tech springs are on the market not to mention a pleth...

Re: 1997 GL 1500 alternator rapping noise?

I did not read the other topics you have listed... limited time here... Could be worn bearings in the alternator, or worn bearing wells caused by a bad bearing in the alternator. I'd suggest replacing the rubber snubbers that drive the alternator. They do get hard after a few years of use. While you...

Re: Replacing fork oil

The first time I had to work with the forks, they were OEM springs and I used the speed handle. I've used the speed handle on two different sets. Since I like to thoroughly clean and flush the fork tubes, I bought the OEM tool for fork disassembly. It also makes it easier for bushing and seal replac...

Re: Replacing fork oil

Assuming you are doing the work with the forks still on the bike, I suggest using a speed handle. SpeedHandle.jpg By the way, be sure you have a floor jack or some kind of support under the engine with the wheel off the ground. I have done it a few times before I finally bought the Honda recommended...

As Stew suggests. The heated element would go on top of the foam, directly under the seat cover. Otherwise, you will have happy warm foam but a cold butt.

If you are getting the Delay to Engage issue you should look here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=27383

If you are getting a hunting issue, you might try replacing the speedometer cable.

No a lot of stuff to remove for these two procedures.
