Re: Gl1000 carburetor rebuild kits

Keep in mind that all you will need is the rubber components. ( Randakks kits contain only the rubber (nytril). The metal parts such as the jets don't wear out and are exact. Some of the aftermarket jets are questionable. I get what you're saying about not needing to replace jets and such with some...

Re: Gl1000 carburetor rebuild kits

I agree on using the Randakk kits. They are way overpriced but top notch quality.
DO NOT even consider using the low priced Barracuda kits sold by Sabre. You'll regret the waste of money and time of having to do the job over again after buying different kits.

Re: Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish

that foil trick is absolutely amazing. i never knew that minor rusted chrome could come back that shiney and clean. i'll definitely remember this. thanks wingadmin for posting the vid about it. stuart. On chrome, 0000 steel wool and WD 40 or PB Blaster works better and quicker, in my opinion. I've ...

Re: Adding Bluetooth module to radio

I hear ya. I'm not sure. I've never had a reason to try that but if I did I'd probably go the aux in mod route to the stereo so you have a 3.5mm then plug that 3.5 into a BT receiver/dongle and pair your phone with it. Be warned though that the audio quality of BT isn't as good as a direct in. If yo...

Re: Adding Bluetooth module to radio

Hey man, welcome back, I haven't seen you post in a while. What exactly are you trying to accomplish, streaming audio to a BT headset? If so, I used a Mpow Streambot transmitter with a DIN to 3.5mm adapter plugged in to the rider's headset plug. This will give you all audio when paired to your helme...

Completely normal on that 40 year old carbureted bike. I wouldn't worry about it.

Re: Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish

Just a FWIW. I've tried the Suzuki brand equiv of this magic in a can and it doesn't compare. You get about half the ounces for the same price and it seems to take a lot more buffing after wiping to get the haze off. But, most importantly, it doesn't smell nearly as good.

Re: wits end with float adjustment

Yep, 15.5mm. It's hard for me to visualize what you're describing without pics. Maybe this will help. It's for 1000 carbs but the 1100 float levels are adjusted the same way. http://www.randakksblog.com/floats-101/

Re: Ran Fine Last Summer - Now It Won't Idle

Possibly, but even if you run it you're still going to have old fuel in it. If I were letting my bike/small engine sit for that long, I'd either drain the fuel or add Stabil. There's a few threads here that discuss the pros and cons of doing either of those. Search for something like "winterizing." ...

Re: Ran Fine Last Summer - Now It Won't Idle (Once Again)

Well, I have just finished cleaning the slow and main jets AGAIN after the bike sat unused for maybe 6 mo. Same gunk as last time blocking the jets again. I found a greenish colored residue in varying amounts in the bowl of each carb. Is this carb clogging just the effect of using alcohol fuels tha...

Re: Carbs leaking fuel into the oil

Not much to add about your ideas other than procedure. Rebuild first and then test..Personally I would have set the carbs on the bench fresh off the bike and filled (gravity) all of them to see if they leaked to verify your suspect of a flooding carb. Either way its all good.Replace the needles and...

I'll take your word on that but the description says 1100. Strange that there are so many available for 75-79 but just the one for the 80-83s. Yeah, they have the description wrong. I don't know why 1100 rear masters are hard to come by. When I got my old bike, someone had already robbed the rear m...
