Goldwing in my sights

Postby Hagafan » Mon Feb 20, 2012 11:04 am

I am watching a 1200 on Ebay at the moment and am probably going to put a bid on it. If I win it, it is about 250 miles away so would be an interesting first ride. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Goldwin ... 602wt_1276 :D

I don't think Euro-spec bikes came with CB's, so either a PO put one in, or (more likely) someone imported that one from the US at one time. In any case, it looks like a great bike!

Not to be negative as I haven't seen the ebay listing, but if it's a US CB, then it's illegal to operate it in the UK!! You may want to check before you get caught (although the chances of being caught are very remote!!), American CB's (and most of the world use AM, England tried to bring in a legal CB system that uses FM and operates on a completely different frequency from the US (and the rest of the world). There are still a lot of people in the UK that use the American CB's, but you just need to be aware they are illegal and use it accordingly..

Look up the "$25 dollar carb sync"I built.I'll swear by it to give a perfect balance.my 1200 will pull from a idle through too fast with no rattle after the sync.

I did the same thing with gauges.I just wasn't satisfied.bouncing needles, inaccurate readings.Stupid made in China junk kept me going in circles.
I used some oil in the bottle,so if it did get tipped over the engine would only chase away the mosquitoes. I've used this to sync my 1100,1200 and the 1500 with 2 carbs.
When you get the balance, all 4 bottles have the same level and bubble the same.Because of the design, the engine never draws oil into the tube, only air. They fight against each other equally when synced. Here's the link.Ask if you have any questions.http://goldwingdocs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8994
