Buggy in Ohio

Postby Tinslinger » Tue Mar 13, 2012 7:44 pm

I just washed the Wing today after picking up lots of bugs on the ride Sunday. So, for those of you that do NOT insist that their ride is spotless, what do you use to wash and wax. Also, what do you use on the wind screen? I'm afraid I will be looking for something that makes bugs easier to get off. They say with the mild winter, the bugs ( SKEETERS) will be especially bad this year. So since this is my first summer with the Wing, help me keep it relatively clean VERY easily. Thanks!

You're lucky that it's only skeeters. Down here we have "love bugs". They fly "united" hence the name. And they seem to want to swarm on the roadways. You have to get them off quick or they will really damage the finish. I use Griot's Garage products, wash, clay, polish and wax with great reasults. As for the widscreen I use warm water and dish soap (Dawn) and the bugs come right off

As far as washing just mild soap Dawn will cut of oil and grime And for the bugs on the windshield lemon pledge. Put a little extra on the bug guts and let it soak them it will take them right off,and your windshield will smell nice. Plus any rain will fly right off,I also use it on my helmet and visor. Hal p.s. I use mothers wax from walmart for the shine

Mothers and/or "Meguiar's Clean and Wax" works great on the painted surfaces. Lemon Pledge to clean the windshield and I've used "Meguiar's Plastx" to remove fine scratches on the windshield and helmet.

Rejex works great and you can use it on the windshield also. Follow the instructions ,do 2 coats and when you go to wash the bike the bugs come right off.

True value hardware stores carry it if you have one nearby. I usually buy a couple of bottles at a time. If you order from HDL parts they carry it also.
